Caulifla

Overview

Caulifla is a female Saiyan from Planet Sadala in Universe 6, introduced during the Universe Survival Saga of Dragon Ball Super. The younger sister of former defense captain Renso, she initially acts as the headstrong leader of a local gang of delinquents. Upon being recruited by Cabba to participate in the Tournament of Power, her dormant combat talents awaken rapidly. Bold, fiercely competitive, and naturally gifted in battle, she makes franchise history as the first canonical female warrior to achieve the Super Saiyan transformation.

Appearance

Caulifla is distinguished by her messy, spiky black hair and large dark eyes, along with a slender build that lacks heavy muscular definition. Unlike traditional Saiyans, she does not possess a tail. Her attire consists of a reddish-purple tube top paired with baggy purple pants resembling knickerbockers, accompanied by long black wristbands on both arms. Her design leaves her shoulders and collarbone exposed. When transforming into a Super Saiyan, her hair turns golden and her eyes shift to an aqua-blue color.

Personality

Caulifla possesses an aggressive and hot-tempered personality, frequently acting on impulse rather than deliberate thought. She speaks in a rough, unrefined manner and freely hurls insults at her opponents during fights. Uninterested in fashion or vanity, she operates as a tough gang leader, yet she demonstrates deep affection and loyalty toward her companions. She is especially protective of her sworn sister Kale, acting as a supportive mentor figure who will unhesitatingly step in to safeguard her from harm.

Abilities

Exhibiting extraordinary martial potential, Caulifla learns fighting techniques at an exceptional pace. By concentrating energy into her back, she unlocks the Super Saiyan transformation and rapidly progresses to Super Saiyan 2 as well as the muscular Super Saiyan 3rd Grade. Her signature move, the Crush Cannon, fires a rapid barrage of red energy blasts from a single hand. She can also discharge dual-handed red energy waves with a posture resembling the Kamehameha. Through the use of Potara earrings, she can fuse with Kale to form Kefla.

Background

On Planet Sadala, Caulifla led a group of street delinquents in bandit operations before being approached by Cabba, who was directed to her by her injured brother Renso. Though initially indifferent to the Tournament of Power, she joined after mastering Super Saiyan and recruited her follower Kale. During the multiverse tournament, she engaged in intense combat against formidable rivals like Son Goku, rapidly elevating her strength mid-battle. Although she and Kale were eliminated after fusing into Kefla and facing Goku's Ultra Instinct, she was restored alongside Universe 6 by the dragon balls' wish, resolving to achieve even higher power levels.

Relationships

Caulifla is the younger sister of Renso, a former commander in the Sadala Defense Troop. She shares a pupil-like dynamic with Cabba, who taught her how to transform into a Super Saiyan. Her connection with her subordinate Kale is extremely close, characterized by unwavering mutual devotion and trust. She develops a fiercely competitive respect for Son Goku of Universe 7, seeking to learn from his vast experience while striving to surpass him. Additionally, she demonstrates solid camaraderie toward her Universe 6 teammate Hit.

Trivia

Her name is derived from the vegetable cauliflower. As the first female Super Saiyan introduced in official animated dragon ball media, her design and combat characteristics reflect subtle parallels to Son Goku of Universe 7, sharing a natural talent for fighting and an uninhibited, impulsive approach to battle.
