He is an alien Namekian of the Dragon Clan who survived a cataclysm on his home planet as a youth.
Appearance
He possesses the characteristic physical traits of a Namekian, featuring green skin and facial antennae on his head. He has a noticeably elderly and aged physical form, paired with an exceptionally tall and imposing stature.
Personality
He possesses a solemn sense of divine duty balanced by a compassionate concern for mortal life. Bearing deep guilt for the darkness that once manifested in his heart due to exposure to human malice, he feels a strong obligation to rectify the tragic events stemming from his split. Despite his revered position on Earth, he behaves with remarkable humility and politeness when interacting with higher galactic authorities.
Abilities
As a prodigy of the Namekian Dragon Clan, he holds the supernatural ability to create Dragon Balls and summon Shenron. He boasts formidable martial arts skills, with capabilities including human possession and the execution of sealing techniques such as the Evil Containment Wave. Furthermore, he can transport souls to the Afterlife and possesses the power to permanently fuse with another Namekian.
Background
Sent to Earth as a child to escape a disaster on Planet Namek, he landed at Yunzabit Heights with no recollection of his identity. After decades of waiting in vain for his kin, he traveled the realm as a martial artist before ascending to the celestial realm. To succeed the former Guardian, he underwent training to purge the darkness in his soul, which inadvertently materialized as Piccolo Daimaou. After decades of guarding Earth and mentoring heroes like Son Goku, he ultimately chose to assimilate back into Piccolo to face powerful threats, passing his divine title to Dende.
Relationships
He shares a close bond with his constant companion Mr. Popo and acts as a martial mentor to Son Goku, Krillin, and their allies. He shares a unified life force with Piccolo Daimaou and his descendant Piccolo, leading to their eventual permanent fusion. He maintains formal respect toward higher deities such as King Yemma and King Kai, and confidently hands over the protection of Earth to his successor, Dende.
Trivia
During the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, he entered the tournament by possessing an ordinary human man and adopting the alias Shen. It is also established that he crafted a prototype set of Ultimate Dragon Balls before officially assuming office as Earth's Guardian.
