Videl

Overview

Videl is a character from the Dragon Ball series created by Akira Toriyama. Introduced during the Majin Buu arc as a high school student at Orange Star High School, she is the only daughter of the world martial arts champion Mr. Satan. Possessing a fierce sense of justice, she frequently assists the local police in capturing criminals in Satan City. After meeting her classmate Son Gohan, she learns advanced martial arts techniques, eventually marrying him and becoming the mother of Pan.

Appearance

Videl is a young woman with black hair and blue eyes. Initially, she sports long hair tied in twin tails, wearing an oversized white shirt paired with black spandex shorts and fingerless gloves. After Son Gohan points out that long hair gets in the way during combat, she cuts it into a boyish short style. In later periods, she wears a bob cut or styles reminiscent of Chi-Chi. As the superheroine Great Saiyaman 2, she dons a full helmet and a specialized hero outfit.

Personality

Videl is highly energetic, competitive, and driven by a strong moral code. Initially stubborn and stern, she often approached the mild-mannered Son Gohan with a sharp attitude. She possesses extremely sharp intuition, allowing her to easily discern secrets and identities that others fail to notice. She exhibits immense resolve in fight situations, refusing to surrender even when severely outmatched. While she respects her father Mr. Satan, she remains critical of his exaggerated showmanship.

Abilities

Trained in martial arts from a young age, Videl easily overpowers ordinary criminals and armed foes. She won the junior division of the 24th Tenkaichi Budokai and possesses physical combat abilities exceeding those of her father. Although she does not utilize ki-based energy attacks, she demonstrates exceptional talent by learning to manipulate her ki to fly using the Bukujutsu technique after only a single day of instruction from Son Gohan. She also exhibits remarkable bodily durability and acute instincts.

Background

Born as the daughter of Mr. Satan, Videl spent her youth practicing martial arts and protecting Satan City. Upon entering Orange Star High School, she became classmates with Son Gohan and uncovered his identity as the Great Saiyaman. Leveraging this discovery, she requested that he teach her flight and enter the Tenkaichi Budokai. During the tournament, she suffered a harsh defeat against Spopovich, but later learned the truth behind past global threats before eventually marrying Gohan.

Relationships

Son Gohan is her high school classmate turned husband. Mr. Satan is her father, whom she respects despite being annoyed by his theatrical behavior. Together with Gohan, she is the mother of their daughter, Pan. Chi-Chi is her mother-in-law, with whom she initially exchanged heated words upon their first meeting. Ireza and Sharpner were her close classmates during her high school years.

Trivia

Her name is an anagram of the word 'devil', designed to match the demon-themed naming convention of her father, Mr. Satan. Throughout the story, her heightened observational skills allow her to detect subtle details and secrets far faster than those around her.
