Appearance
He has the physical form of a classic loggerhead sea turtle.
Personality
Umigame is calm, polite, and exceptionally mild-mannered. He acts as a sensible figure who routinely scolds Master Roshi for his foolish behavior, yet he holds immense respect for Roshi as a martial artist and grieves deeply when his master faces danger. He is highly grateful to those who extend a helping hand.
Abilities
Having lived for centuries, he has gained the ability to speak fluent human language. While his measured power level is a mere 0.001, he is capable of standing on two legs to defeat thugs when driven to action.
Background
Originally an ordinary turtle, he gained speech through centuries of longevity, reaching over one thousand years of age—making him older than both Master Roshi and Fortune Teller Baba. He was rescued after being stranded inland for over a year while gathering mushrooms. He remains alive throughout the series and has a son named Taro.
Relationships
He lives with Master Roshi, whom he respects deeply despite constantly scolding his perverted habits. He harbors lasting gratitude toward Son Goku and Bulma for rescuing him, though Goku frequently mispronounces his name. He also has a son named Taro, with whom he reunited in the animated series.
Trivia
Due to his extreme longevity, he outlives many standard mortal characters across the timeline, remaining healthy throughout the franchise's various eras.
