Overview

Babidi is a dark wizard who appears as an antagonist in the Dragon Ball franchise, including Dragon Ball Z. As the son of the evil warlock Bibidi, his overarching ambition is to unseal and resurrect his father's creation, Majin Buu, to subjugate the universe.

Appearance

Babidi is extremely short in stature, featuring a disproportionately massive head and bulging eyes. He clothes himself in a cape worn over a long robe.

Personality

Babidi possesses a cruel, vindictive, and short-tempered personality. He displays utter ruthlessness, frequently executing his own subordinates on a whim or once they outlive their usefulness. Though childishly arrogant and reckless in how he treats others, he also exhibits keen intuition and sharp observational skills when judging enemy threats.

Abilities

Babidi wields various magical spells, including brainwashing individuals by exploiting the evil in their hearts to draw out their latent potential, instantly teleporting targets with the chant "Papparapa!", and causing bodies to burst. He can create a formidable barrier to block heavy attacks. His magic relies heavily on spoken incantations, leaving him defenseless if his mouth is covered, and his control can be defied by targets with strong willpower.

Background

Babidi arrives on Earth to gather energy and restore Majin Buu to power. While he succeeds in reviving the creature through his henchmen, his manipulative hold over Buu collapses due to his overbearing demeanor. Believing his sealing spell makes him untouchable, he underestimates Buu's intelligence; Buu eventually silences Babidi and kills him by destroying his head.

Relationships

Babidi is the son of the warlock Bibidi. He places warriors like the Demon King Dabura, Spopovich, and Yamu under his mind control to use as pawns. Although he resurrects Majin Buu to use as his ultimate muscle, his abusive treatment leads Buu to turn on him. He acts as an enemy to the Supreme Kai, Piccolo, and Son Goku.

Trivia

In various video game adaptations such as the Dragon Ball Heroes series, Babidi frequently appears in original storylines where he mind-controls movie antagonists, empowering them into enhanced forms.
