Overview
Gamma 2 is an android appearing in the movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Created by Dr. Hedo for the reformed Red Ribbon Army, he is the second unit in the Gamma series. Designed around the concept of a superhero, he possesses a strong sense of justice and takes great pride in acting as a champion of good.
Appearance
Gamma 2 features grey skin along with black pupils set against yellow sclerae. Two fin-like protrusions extend from his head. His attire includes a distinctive blue cape and gloves in black and yellow, and he carries a signature blue ray gun as his primary equipment.
Personality
Energetic and somewhat lighthearted, Gamma 2 has a carefree personality that often leads to mild scolding from his more serious counterpart, Gamma 1. Despite his easygoing demeanor, his commitment to justice is absolute; he refuses to tolerate cruelty toward innocents and will readily stand against genuine evil.
Abilities
He fights using a blue ray gun capable of firing rapid beams or charging high-output blasts. Built-in functions include an analytical learning system that enhances his performance as combat progresses and a biological scope to track targets. While his energy is finite, he can operate at full power continuously and expend his total energy reserve in a high-impact dive attack.
Background
Believing Capsule Corp to be evil based on Dr. Hedo's instructions, Gamma 2 initially attacked Piccolo to test his abilities. During a later clash at the Red Ribbon base, witnessing the army's villainous behavior led him to break ties with them and align with Piccolo's group. In the battle against the rampant Cell Max, he sacrificed himself by diving from space with his energy fully charged, destroying the monster's left arm before permanently shutting down.
Relationships
He respects his creator, Dr. Hedo, and shares a strong bond with his fellow android Gamma 1 despite their opposing temperaments. Although initially hostile toward Piccolo and Son Gohan, he eventually cleared up the misunderstanding and joined forces with them to fight a common threat.
Trivia
His design and superhero motif draw strong inspiration from classic tokusatsu heroes like Ultraman. Various video game adaptations recreate his high-offensive combat style and his iconic heroic sacrifice.
