Edgeshot

Overview

Shinya Kamihara, known by his hero name Edgeshot, is a top-ranking Pro Hero from the anime and manga series My Hero Academia. Ascending as high as the fourth spot on the Hero Billboard Chart JP, he operates under a mysterious ninja persona while maintaining extreme secrecy regarding his private life. As the disciplined leader of the hero group known as The Lurkers alongside Kamui Woods and Mt. Lady, he stands out for his stoic temperament and tactical brilliance. Edgeshot serves as a dependable pillar among professional heroes, providing crucial leadership and decisive combat capability during major crises.

Appearance

Edgeshot features light grey hair with front bangs folded sharply over the right half of his face and back hair parted straight into two points. He has black eyes, and while his face is kept hidden, he is described as handsome. His hero costume is a navy and red shinobi-style outfit equipped with an oni-shaped shoulder guard on his right shoulder. A lower-face mask and a red scarf obscure his facial features, and he wears zori sandals over split-toe jika-tabi boots. In casual attire, he retains a traditional ninja outfit paired with geta clogs.

Personality

Edgeshot possesses a remarkably calm and collected demeanor, remaining unshakeable even in high-stress combat situations while rapidly analyzing opponent abilities. He speaks in a somewhat formal and understated manner, upholding strict decorum and admonishing allies when they act unprofessionally in public. Driven by a core belief that hero work exists to bring peace rather than personal fame, he demonstrates thoughtful consideration toward his comrades, encouraging those who feel disheartened by setbacks. Despite his professional presence, he maintains absolute secrecy regarding his personal life away from work.

Abilities

Edgeshot wields the Quirk Foldabody, which grants him the ability to flatten and stretch his physical form into paper-thin or thread-like strands. Through intense training, his transformation speed surpasses the speed of sound, enabling him to slip through locked doors and maintain long aerial maneuvers. By reforming his body rapidly at the extended tip, he achieves movement akin to teleportation. His signature technique, Ninpo Senmaidoshi, delivers supersonic thrusts that enter an opponent's body to puncture lungs or disrupt internal organs, incapacitating targets without killing them, while its ultimate variation allows for precise internal surgical repair.

Background

After graduating from U.A. High School, Edgeshot established himself as a distinguished Pro Hero, eventually rising into the top ranks of the Hero Billboard Chart JP. During the emergency operation in Kamino District to rescue Katsuki Bakugo, he played a vital role in infiltrating the League of Villains' hideout, unlocking secured entrances and neutralizing key threats. Following All Might's retirement, he took the initiative to form the hero team known as The Lurkers alongside Kamui Woods and Mt. Lady. He mentored hero course interns and served as a tactical field commander during the conflict against the Paranormal Liberation Front, successfully defeating Re-Destro.

Relationships

Edgeshot shares a close bond with Best Jeanist, who served as his senior in the Handicrafts Club during their time at U.A. High School. He collaborates closely with Kamui Woods and Mt. Lady as the founder and leader of The Lurkers, establishing a seamless team dynamic. His connection to Katsuki Bakugo spans from rescuing him in Kamino to taking extreme measures to protect the young hero's life in critical battle. Additionally, he maintains professional mutual respect with fellow top heroes such as Mirko and Hawks, engaging in light banter while holding high standards for their shared line of work.

Trivia

Edgeshot has a documented fondness for ninja lore and traditional onigiri. During his high school years at U.A., he attempted to recruit new members for the Handicrafts Club after Best Jeanist graduated; however, because he conducted his recruitment so stealthily without being noticed by anyone, the club ended up quietly dissolving. He also appeared as a promotional model for a security service in the series, featuring the catchy advertising slogan stating that even a trained ninja could not breach their protection.
