Overview
Bubaigawara Jin, known by his villain name Twice, is a character from the manga series My Hero Academia. He is a key member of the League of Villains who later becomes a regiment commander in the Paranormal Liberation Front. Joining the organization during the forest training camp attack as part of the Vanguard Action Squad, he wears a distinctive full-body suit and mask. Twice is characterized by his split personality and wildly self-contradictory speech, yet he possesses deep loyalty and affection for his fellow villains, regarding the group as his true home and family.
Appearance
Twice wears a full-body rubber suit with a black and grey color scheme paired with a mask that completely covers his face. On his arm, he wears a measuring tape used for taking physical measurements. Unmasked, he is a blonde-haired man with grey or blue eyes and facial stubble, featuring a prominent vertical scar running down the middle of his forehead.
Personality
Twice exhibits a contradictory, split-personality speech pattern, constantly uttering opposing thoughts or contrasting positive and negative statements in rapid succession. Putting on his mask stabilizes his mental state, making his behavior bright and high-spirited. Without it, his psyche begins to unravel, throwing him into severe inner turmoil and anxiety. Beneath his chaotic exterior, he is fundamentally empathetic, deeply loyal, and intensely devoted to the League of Villains, treating his comrades with profound warmth and protective responsibility.
Abilities
Twice possesses the Quirk known as Double, which enables him to create up to two duplicates of any object or person. To successfully replicate someone, he must take exact physical measurements using his wrist tape and maintain a clear mental image; incomplete data results in useless mud. Human clones retain the original person's memories, personality, and Quirk, but dissolve into liquid after sustaining moderate physical damage. Upon overcoming his trauma, he awakened the technique Sad Man's Parade, allowing him to endlessly replicate himself into a massive, self-multiplying army.
Background
Orphaned in middle school with no relatives, Jin Bubaigawara faced extreme hardship early in life. At age sixteen, he lost his job and housing after an unblameworthy accident. To cope with solitude, he cloned himself using his Quirk, but his clones rebelled, held him captive, and slaughtered each other over nine days. This traumatic incident left him with a forehead scar, severe identity confusion, and a split personality. Broker Giran later introduced him to the League of Villains, where he finally found acceptance. Though he eventually overcame his self-doubt during the Meta Liberation Army conflict, he was ultimately killed during his battle against the hero Hawks.
Relationships
Twice shared an exceptionally tight bond with Toga Himiko, performing clone-based blood transfusions to save her life and protecting her until his final moments. He felt a strong sense of gratitude toward the broker Giran, who introduced him to the League of Villains and procured his suit. He viewed Shigaraki Tomura, Dabi, Mr. Compress, Spinner, and Magne as his true family, reacting with intense fury when Magne was slain by Overhaul. Conversely, the professional hero Hawks recognized the immense strategic threat posed by Twice's Quirk, culminating in a fatal confrontation between them.
Trivia
Twice's design and dual personality traits are heavily inspired by Marvel Comics' Deadpool. In a notable real-world connection, Deadpool himself is a homage to DC Comics' Deathstroke, a character voiced by Twice's Japanese voice actor, Daichi Endo, in the Japanese dub of the live-action movie Justice League.
