Overview
Oboro Shirakumo, also known by his hero name Loud Cloud, is a character appearing in My Hero Academia and its spin-off series Vigilante: My Hero Academia Illegals. As a former student of Class 2-A in the Hero Course at U.A. High School, he trained alongside his classmates Shota Aizawa and Hizashi Yamada. Despite his high potential as a future pro hero, his life was tragically cut short during his high school years.
Appearance
Oboro features spiky light blue hair. His hero costume incorporates visual elements inspired by Sun Wukong from Journey to the West. In his school attire, he wears the U.A. High School uniform consisting of a white collared shirt, a red necktie, trousers, and a jacket, often accompanied by goggles worn over his head.
Personality
Oboro possesses a bright, cheerful, and optimistic demeanor, acting as an energetic mood-maker among his peers. He valued camaraderie deeply, dreaming of establishing a hero agency together with his close friends. Highly regarded by supervisors during his internship for his positive attitude, he demonstrated profound selflessness in critical situations, prioritizing the safety of others and young children over his own life.
Abilities
His Quirk, Cloud, enables him to generate clouds of various sizes. He can ride upon these clouds to freely maneuver and navigate through the air. Beyond personal mobility, his Quirk allows for practical applications such as gathering and evacuating injured people during rescue efforts, as well as obstructing enemies' vision in combat situations.
Background
During his time at U.A. High School, Oboro initially struggled alongside Shota Aizawa and Hizashi Yamada to secure an internship placement, but eventually gained one through recommendation. He often teamed up with Aizawa during field operations, sharing matching goggles to support his partner. During an attack by a giant villain, Oboro shielded children from collapsing rubble and died at age 17. Unknown to his peers, his body was stolen prior to cremation and used as the base to construct the Nomu known as Kurogiri.
Relationships
Oboro formed a tight-knit trio with his U.A. High classmates Shota Aizawa (Eraser Head) and Hizashi Yamada (Present Mic). He shared a particularly close bond with Aizawa on the battlefield, giving him goggles to offset his combat weakness. Nemuri Kayama (Midnight) facilitated their internship opportunities. Following his death, his remains were manipulated by Dr. Garaki (Daruma Ujiko) to create a high-tier Nomu.
Trivia
His favorite things are the blue sky and the sun, and his birthday is May 5th. During an interrogation at the Tartarus facility, intense emotional appeals from his former friends temporarily awakened a fraction of his original consciousness within Kurogiri, allowing him to utter the word 'hospital'.
