Lady Nagant

Overview

Lady Nagant, real name Kaina Tsutsumi, is a character in My Hero Academia. Formerly a highly celebrated top Pro Hero, she was imprisoned in the high-security villain facility Tartarus after committing a major crime. Following a mass jailbreak from Tartarus, she forms a contract with All For One and is sent as a lethal assassin to capture Izuku Midoriya while he operates independently.

Appearance

She is a tall woman with striking bi-colored pink and dark blue hair and purple eyes. Formerly keeping her hair in a ponytail, it grew into a short bob following a period of being shaved in prison. She wears a sleeveless, shoulder-exposing purple dress of medium length along with tactical footwear. When activating her main ability, her right elbow transforms into an advanced rifle barrel.

Personality

She possesses a bold, tough-minded personality and remains entirely unbothered even in the presence of formidable figures. Having experienced the dark side of superhero society, she holds a deep cynicism toward its systemic hypocrisy, yet she is not purely malicious and shows pity toward helpless individuals. Privately, she harbors a soft spot for cute and pretty things.

Abilities

Her innate Quirk, Rifle, enables her to shape her right elbow into a sniper rifle and mold her two-toned hair into specialized ammunition such as hollow-point or curving bullets. She possesses legendary marksmanship capable of striking moving targets from three kilometers away, alongside adept close-quarters combat skills. After receiving the Air Walk Quirk from All For One, she gains the ability to maneuver through the air, acting as an extremely agile long-range sniper.

Background

Scouted early for her exceptional skills, she spent years secretly serving the Hero Public Safety Commission by assassinating corrupt heroes and threats to maintain public trust. The immense strain of this hypocritical double life eventually broke her sanity, driving her to kill the Commission's president. Framed for hero murder to cover up official secrets, she was jailed in Tartarus until her escape, after which she was manipulated into hunting Izuku Midoriya before being deeply moved by his genuine heroism.

Relationships

Through their high-stakes confrontation, she comes to recognize Izuku Midoriya as a true hero who reignites her lost ideals. Hawks serves as her successor within the Hero Public Safety Commission's covert operations, leading to a deep mutual understanding of their shared burdens. During the jailbreak, she felt pity toward Kai Chisaki and brought him along. All For One manipulated her distrust of hero society and rigged her body with a self-destruct mechanism to ensure loyalty.

Trivia

The series creator mentioned that the concept for her sniping style was inspired by the film Wanted. Her hero moniker is believed to originate from the Belgian Nagant M1895 revolver or the famous Russian Mosin-Nagant bolt-action sniper rifle.
