Overview
Yoarashi Inasa is a character from My Hero Academia. A first-year student in the Hero Course at Shiketsu High School, he operates under the Hero Name Gale Force. Recognized as one of the most capable first-years at his academy, he notably secured the top score on the U.A. High School recommendation exam before turning down his admission. Exceptionally enthusiastic and high-spirited, he firmly believes that passion is the most essential quality a true hero must possess.
Appearance
Standing 190 cm tall with a large, solid build, he has dark sanpaku eyes and black hair styled in a buzz cut. His hero costume consists of a cold-resistant coat designed for high-altitude operations, equipped with air nozzles in multiple spots and featuring a noticeably enlarged left arm section. The outfit also incorporates a military-style hat, gloves, fur trimming, and a cape. Eight years after the final conflict, he dyes his hair silver.
Personality
He is an intensely passionate and energetic individual who highly values passion in heroes and everyday life. Extremely outgoing, he readily approaches strangers with a boisterous demeanor and has a unique habit of bowing so forcefully that his forehead strikes the ground. Honest to a fault and academically accomplished, he is kind toward children, though he can occasionally grow emotional and resort to brute force. While he strongly dislikes cold or dismissive attitudes due to past experiences, he possesses the maturity to admit his own mistakes and sincerely make amends.
Abilities
His Quirk, Whirlwind, allows him to generate and manipulate countless currents of air with exceptional precision. He can fly freely through the sky, produce winds in multiple directions simultaneously, and lift specific targets out of rubble across a broad area. The scale and control of his wind abilities enabled him to single-handedly eliminate 120 applicants during the initial phase of the Provisional Hero License Exam. He can also combine his gales with Shoto Todoroki's flames to create a massive fiery vortex in their joint technique, Kouen Banjou.
Background
As a child, Inasa was deeply crushed when the hero Endeavor coldly denied him an autograph. Years later, during U.A. High School's recommendation exam, he attempted to greet Endeavor's son, Shoto Todoroki, but was met with the same dismissive coldness. Although Inasa placed first in the exam, he declined admission and chose Shiketsu High School instead. During the Provisional Hero License Exam, his lingering resentment caused him to clash with Shoto, resulting in both failing the test. Through a remedial course, the two reconciled, and Inasa eventually came to support Endeavor after witnessing his commitment to change. He later joined his Shiketsu classmates in the final war and eventually climbed to 16th place on the Hero Billboard Chart JP.
Relationships
He initially held intense resentment toward Shoto Todoroki due to Shoto's cold demeanor during their entrance exam. After clashing during the licensing exam, both acknowledged their faults during remedial classes and formed a mutual friendship. His long-standing grudge against Endeavor stemmed from a childhood autograph rejection, but he grew to genuinely support Endeavor after observing his commitment to change. He maintains strong bonds with his Shiketsu High School peers, including Camie Utsushimi, Seiji Shikikura, and Nagamasa Mora, with Camie later inspiring his silver hair color. He also bonded with Katsuki Bakugo during their shared remedial course.
Trivia
Fellow hero student Hanta Sero once described his extreme high energy as being akin to taking Tenya Iida and Eijiro Kirishima, adding them together, and squaring the result. Official character guidebooks summarize his nature as pure and tempestuous like a hurricane. Interestingly, the official name of his Quirk, Whirlwind, was not explicitly stated within the dialogue of the original manga series, but was officially revealed through the anime adaptation and official materials.
