Though Quirkless, Melissa possesses exceptional intellect, sharp powers of observation, and high-level computer skills. She excels at developing support items and hero costumes, notably deducing the physical strain on Izuku Midoriya and providing him with the Full Gauntlet support item. She is also capable of applying her technical expertise under high-stress crisis situations.
Background
Diagnosed as Quirkless around five years old, Melissa struggled with the realization that she could not become a conventional hero. Her perspective shifted after meeting All Might, who helped her realize that there are multiple ways to help people, prompting her to aspire toward a scientific career like her father. At the I-Island Academy, she has earned a private research room due to her academic achievements.
Relationships
Melissa holds her father, David Shield, in high regard. She affectionately refers to her father's close friend All Might as Uncle Might. She forms a warm bond with Izuku Midoriya after recognizing his struggles, and rapidly becomes good friends with Ochaco Uraraka, Momo Yaoyorozu, and Kyoka Jiro.
