Nejire Hado

Overview

Nejire Hado is a supporting character in My Hero Academia. A third-year student in Class 3-A at U.A. High School, she stands alongside Mirio Togata and Tamaki Amajiki as the sole female member of the school's renowned "Big 3." Operating under the hero name "Nejire Chan," she engages in work studies at the Ryukyu Agency. Combining an endlessly curious, innocent demeanor with battle capabilities that equal professional heroes, she is recognized as one of U.A.'s premier hero candidates.

Appearance

Nejire has bright blue eyes and light blue hair that extends past her waist, twisting naturally around her midsection. Her U.A. High School uniform includes a vest worn under the standard jacket. Her hero attire consists of a form-fitting bodysuit paired with gloves and twin spiral horn-like head accessories crafted from twisted locks. After suffering severe battle burns that destroyed much of her hair, she temporarily adopted a short haircut before eventually growing it out again.

Personality

Possessing a genuinely innocent and bubbly personality, Nejire is intensely fascinated by the physical traits and Quirks of others. She has a habit of invading personal space to shower people with rapid-fire questions regardless of the situation. Though her childlike demeanor often makes her seem eccentric and free-spirited, she exhibits remarkable composure in battle, carefully evaluating collateral damage and team dynamics.

Abilities

Her Quirk, "Wave Motion," converts her stamina into pure energy to release spiraling shockwaves. Because the energy naturally twists, the waves lack initial speed, but she adapts through techniques such as the wide-area "Gring Wave," the dual-arm concentrated "Gring Flood," and the fast, piercing "Gring Pike." While draining her energy leaves her physically exhausted, she can also use the wave reaction forces to levitate and maneuver in midair.

Background

Hailing from Akita Prefecture, Nejire experienced isolation in middle school when her powerful Quirk and blunt curiosity led to misunderstandings. After enrolling at U.A. High School, the supportive nature of peers like Tamaki Amajiki and Yuyu Haya helped her regain her vibrant self. Developing into one of the top students in the Hero Course, she won the U.A. School Festival pageant in her final year and served as a core fighter during the Shie Hassaikai raid and the war against the Paranormal Liberation Front.

Relationships

She shares a strong bond of trust with fellow Big 3 members Mirio Togata and Tamaki Amajiki, having supported Tamaki through mutual personal growth. Her classmate Yuyu Haya is her close friend who encouraged her pageant participation. She holds great respect for her work study mentor, the pro hero Ryukyu, and acts as a caring, reliable senior to underclassmen Ochaco Uraraka and Tsuyu Asui during agency operations.

Trivia

Series creator Kohei Horikoshi noted that he finds her hero costume design difficult to memorize, often referencing official character model sheets when drawing her. Her favorite items include lily flowers and jasmine tea.
