Overview

Kai Chisaki, operating under the villain name Overhaul, is the ruthless young leader of the Shie Hassaikai yakuza group in My Hero Academia. Serving as the main antagonist of the Shie Hassaikai Arc, he assumes command of the syndicate after incapacitating its leader. Afflicted by severe mysophobia, he views Quirks as a disease infecting humanity. Driven by a twisted obligation to repay the former boss who raised him, Chisaki seeks to dismantle hero society and restore the yakuza to power through calculating, lethal means.

Appearance

Kai Chisaki has narrow eyes and short black hair with a slight reddish tint. He sports a signature red plague doctor mask over his face and white gloves on his hands. His outfit consists of a green mod coat trimmed with purple fur over a black shirt and white necktie, combined with black slacks, ankle-length socks, and white sneakers. Physical touch from others causes him to break out in hives across his body.

Personality

Chisaki is defined by severe germaphobia, harboring an intense aversion to physical contact. He views Quirks as a sickness infecting humanity and holds immense hatred for hero society. Possessing sharp intellect, exceptional foresight, and a talent for emotional manipulation, he commands fear among his underlings, whom he views as disposable tools. Though deeply loyal to his adoptive father figure, his sense of gratitude is warped into cold fanaticism, justifying horrific torture to achieve his objectives.

Abilities

His Quirk, Overhaul, enables him to instantly disassemble and reassemble anything touched by his hands. This grants him the power to heal injuries, cure illnesses, resurrect the recently deceased, or manipulate terrain into sharp stone spikes for offensive combat. He can also fuse his body with others to assimilate their physical traits and Quirks. Beyond his ability, Chisaki possesses extraordinary physical reflexes, keen tactical insight, and advanced pharmaceutical knowledge used to craft Quirk-erasing bullets.

Background

Raised in an orphanage before being taken in by the Shie Hassaikai boss, Chisaki grew deeply attached to the organization. To prevent its collapse in the hero era, he proposed monetizing Quirk-erasing bullets extracted from the boss's granddaughter, Eri. When the boss rejected the brutal plan, Chisaki rendered him vegetative and seized control of the syndicate. After repeatedly destroying and resurrecting Eri during experiments, he was defeated by Izuku Midoriya. Enemy villains ambushed his transport, destroying both of his arms and stripping him of his Quirk. Following imprisonment and a chaotic jailbreak, he eventually expressed remorse and reunited with the awakened boss.

Relationships

Chisaki maintains intense reverence for the Shie Hassaikai boss, despite putting him into a coma to advance his plans. He treated the boss's granddaughter, Eri, strictly as a living resource for drug extraction, subjecting her to endless cruelty. He clashes violently with Tomura Shigaraki and the League of Villains, who ultimately cripple his arms in retribution. Izuku Midoriya and Mirio Togata oppose his tyranny, though Midoriya later facilitates Chisaki's reconciliation with the boss.

Trivia

The orphanage where Chisaki spent his early years was originally owned and managed by All For One. Additionally, Tomura Shigaraki's Decay Quirk was revealed to be a flawed, modified clone of Chisaki's Overhaul Quirk, engineered by All For One with the reassembly aspect removed.
