Overview
Himiko Toga is a major antagonist in My Hero Academia and a high school girl who serves as a core member of the League of Villains (later the Paranormal Liberation Front). Wanted by the police as a suspect in a series of fatal blood-draining attacks, she joined the villain organization through an underworld broker following the Hero Killer Stain's arrest. Blending teenage charm with deadly malice, she functions as the primary female figure among the series' antagonists.
Appearance
Himiko has messy blonde hair styled into double buns on the sides, featuring blunt bangs and sidelocks. Her face is characterized by yellow eyes with slit pupils, narrowed irises, dark circles under her eyes, and sharp fangs, frequently accompanied by flushed cheeks and a morbid smile. She typically wears a high school sailor uniform with a blue collar, red neckerchief, blue pleated skirt, oversized beige cardigan with long sleeves covering her hands, black knee-high socks, and brown loafers. For battle, she carries knives and equips a teeth-patterned mask or neck warmer, a green belt with pouches, thigh straps, and a back-mounted tank connected via hoses to syringe canisters on her shoulders.
Personality
While presenting herself as a cheerful, fashion-conscious high schooler who loves cute things, Himiko harbors a deeply twisted mindset centered on blood and injury. She equates cutting others, drinking their blood, and taking on their appearance with the highest form of affection. She longs for a world where she can live freely without societal constraints, yet deeply fears captivity and death. Despite her ruthless nature toward enemies, she shows genuine affection and warmth toward her allies in the League of Villains, speaking to them with casual familiarity mixed with polite phrasing.
Abilities
Her Quirk, Transform, allows her to copy another person's appearance, voice, and gear by ingesting their blood, with the duration proportional to the amount consumed—roughly one day per cup. Consuming blood from multiple people enables her to switch between forms. Upon awakening her power in a life-or-death battle, she gained the ability to manifest the Quirks of individuals she deeply loves while transformed into them. Lacking direct offensive Quirk traits, she relies on knife combat and stealth skills developed while evading police, allowing her to slip into an opponent's blind spot and erase her presence.
Background
Born into an ordinary family, Himiko exhibited a strange fascination with blood from early childhood. Her parents suppressed her inclinations, forcing her to feign normalcy until her middle school graduation, when she slashed a classmate she liked and drank his blood before fleeing into hiding. Becoming a wanted fugitive responsible for fatal blood-draining attacks, she joined the League of Villains after being inspired by Stain's media exposure. She subsequently took part in major operations, including the training camp raid, infiltrating the licensing exam, the Shie Hassaikai mission, and the conflict with the Meta Liberation Army.
Relationships
Himiko holds a powerful fascination with Izuku Midoriya, drawn to his bruised and bloody state. Her dynamic with Ochaco Uraraka is complex, viewing her both as a rival in love and as someone whose understanding she seeks regarding social acceptance. She shared a bond of deep mutual trust with Jin Bubaigawara (Twice), whom she comforted during his severe mental distress by wrapping his splitting head with a handkerchief. She also idolizes the Hero Killer Stain, expressing a paradoxical desire to become him and kill him.
Trivia
Series creator Kohei Horikoshi has mentioned that Himiko's eyes and hair are among the most challenging elements for him to draw. Her habit of wearing a high school sailor uniform originated as a disguise to blend in while hiding from police pursuit, though she personally loves the aesthetic. In the anime adaptation, when her transformation dissolves and leaves her unclothed, her body is depicted with a white, clay-like visual effect.
