Ashveil

Overview

Ashveil is a playable 5-star Lightning character following the Path of The Hunt in Honkai: Star Rail. Based in the Hatokawa District of Nisou Rakuen, he runs the Ashveil Detective Agency, taking on a wide variety of requests ranging from locating lost pets to hunting down intergalactic fugitives. Although he presents himself as a goofy, easygoing sleuth who relies on luck, he is secretly La Mancha, the missing leader of the Galaxy Rangers, who now seeks a quiet life under a new identity.

Appearance

Ashveil features long black hair ending in white gradient tips, paired with grey eyes. He wears a white fedora hat, a long-sleeved black shirt, a white jacket, black trousers, and black footwear. Around his neck hangs a tooth necklace, and his left hand is fitted with a single white glove.

Personality

Ashveil comes across as a cheerful, easygoing eccentric with a knack for strange habits, such as sleeping inside a coffin-shaped refrigerator. He runs a cluttered office and constantly suffers from a lack of funds, often offering bizarre, off-target deductions while relying heavily on his assistant. Despite his lightweight facade, he shifts into a solemn and cautious demeanor whenever matters involve a tragic incident from fifteen years ago or the meme virus, harboring deep concern for the threats facing others.

Abilities

Ashveil functions as a Lightning attacker specializing in follow-up attacks while buffing his allies' follow-up capabilities. His combat skill and ultimate mark a target as Prey, reducing enemy defense and resistance across all elements. When allies strike the Prey, Ashveil recovers energy and accumulates stacks of Gluttony, which he consumes to deliver powerful follow-up strikes. His technique dazes nearby enemies, dealing area-of-effect Lightning damage upon entering combat. Additionally, his right arm houses a shadow entity capable of devouring formidable entities.

Background

Ashveil was originally La Mancha, the missing leader of the Galaxy Rangers. Choosing to conceal his true identity, he settled in Nisou Rakuen under the guise of an eccentric detective. He harbors deep concerns regarding a terrible tragedy that devastated the city fifteen years prior and the threat of the meme virus. Through the guidance of the Express navigator Ciken, Ashveil acquired a sinister shadow entity within his right arm that is said to have swallowed powerful beings like a Lord Ravager and an Emanator of Abundance. He now strives to live out a low-key existence while coping with his hidden burdens.

Relationships

Ashveil relies heavily on Narrator, a speech-capable monkey assistant who performs most of the actual investigative legwork and intelligence gathering. Fellow Galaxy Ranger Boothill is aware that Ashveil is secretly La Mancha; respecting Ashveil's wish for a quiet hidden life, Boothill keeps the secret while actively seeking a solution to help him. Ashveil also maintains connections with fellow Ranger Rappa and with Ciken, the navigator whose guidance led him to acquire the shadow bound to his right arm.

Trivia

When scanned by Herta's Rating Pistol, Ashveil receives a score of 87 points without any unusual annotations, implying he is not an Emanator. Completing specific Trailblaze Missions automatically updates his character profile's affiliation from Nisou Rakuen to Galaxy Rangers, while unlocking new team formation voice lines and interaction options at his office.
