Overview
Jingliu is a character from Honkai: Star Rail who served as the former Sword Champion of the Xianzhou Luofu and was a key member of the legendary High-Cloud Quintet. Revered for her peerless swordsmanship under the honorific title "Transcendent Flash," she eventually succumbed to the Mara-struck state, transforming from an elite champion into a disgraced traitor whose name was scrubbed from official records. Appearance
Jingliu has long white hair featuring a light blue gradient near the tips, bound into a high ponytail with a blue hair ribbon. She possesses red eyes, which are normally covered by a black blindfold. Her costume includes a navy blue dress with exposed shoulders, detached long sleeves, and a circular mirror accessory attached to the chest. She completes her attire with black gloves and black knee-high boots.
Personality
Jingliu is a stoic and unyielding swordmaster who seeks to transcend human boundaries in order to attain the power required to slay a god. Driven into madness by the Mara-struck affliction, she retains her focus by anchoring her mind to intense emotions such as hatred. As a teacher, she is notoriously demanding and blunt, yet she harbors a genuine dedication to instructing those who wish to master the blade. Beneath her cold, distant demeanor lies a turbulent mix of remorse, wrath, and lingering affection for her past companions.
Abilities
Operating as an Ice-attribute Destruction character, Jingliu functions as a powerful damage dealer utilizing single-target and blast attacks. By executing her Skill or Ultimate, she accumulates stacks of Syzygy. Accumulating two stacks triggers her Spectral Transmigration state, which advances her turn immediately while granting massive buffs to her critical rate and critical damage. In this state, her Skill upgrades to a blast attack that consumes no Skill Points at the cost of draining her allies' health upon attacking. Her Technique deploys a field that freezes nearby foes and awards energy and Syzygy upon engaging in battle.
Background
Hailing from the Xianzhou Cangcheng, Jingliu escaped the destruction of her homeworld by a living star and eventually became the Sword Champion of the Luofu. She mentored Jing Yuan and fought alongside the High-Cloud Quintet. Following the death of her beloved friend Baiheng and the catastrophic aftermath of the Sedition of Imbibitor Lunae, she was forced to cut down the mutated draconic creature created by her companions. Overwhelmed by grief and fatigue, she succumbed to the Mara-struck state, rampaged through the Cloud Knights, fought her disciple Jing Yuan, and vanished. Centuries later, having learned to suppress her affliction, she surrendered to the Xianzhou alliance to advance her ultimate plan to slay the Aeon of Abundance.
Relationships
Jing Yuan is Jingliu's former disciple, with whom she engaged in a fateful battle when her Mara flared up. Blade, formerly Yingxing, crafted her weapon and shares a tragic history with her, having been repeatedly killed by her as part of his sword training after becoming immortal. Dan Heng represents the lineage of Dan Feng, whom she held accountable for the forbidden rituals following the death of their treasured friend Baiheng. Yanqing is her grand-disciple, whom she tested and bested in duel. In her pursuit to eliminate the Aeon of Abundance, she works in close coordination with Luocha and Ruan Mei.
Trivia
Her name, Jingliu, signifies "water flowing clear like a mirror." In the game's Rating Pistol evaluation, she receives a score of 0, representing the lowest numeric value assigned to any scannable character. Because she never meets the Trailblazer directly in the story, she is one of the rare companions who never sends daily messages to the player's phone, prompting Jing Yuan to text an apology on her behalf instead. Furthermore, the round mirror motif worn on her chest alternates between bright and dark states periodically.
