Overview
Hanya is a character in Honkai: Star Rail who serves as one of the judges of the Ten-Lords Commission on the Xianzhou Luofu. Within the commission's four duties—detention, restraint, punishment, and interrogation—she is tasked with interrogation. Operating under the Harmony Path as a Physical-attribute unit, she uses dream divination to read the karmic sins of criminals and writes their verdicts with her Oracle Brush.
Appearance
Hanya has long grey hair fastened with wing-like hair ornaments and tassels, and grey eyes with hair hanging between them. Her attire features a dark blue dress with bare shoulders and wide detached sleeves, paired with a black bodystocking, black gloves, and black high-heeled boots. A dark tattoo is visible on her left thigh. In combat and work, she carries her Oracle Brush, talismans, and judicial tokens.
Personality
Constantly flooded with massive amounts of karmic information from the mara-struck during her dream divination work, Hanya has grown indifferent and emotionless toward world affairs. Despite her cool, detached exterior, she possesses a surprisingly talkative streak, often speaking at great length or writing excessively detailed messages. She reveals genuine emotion primarily when accompanying her elder sister, Xueyi.
Abilities
In battle, Hanya excels as a support provider. Her Skill and Technique apply the Burden status to a target, allowing allies to recover Skill Points after attacking the affected enemy a set number of times. Her Ultimate grants substantial boosts to a chosen ally's Speed and Attack, while her Talent increases the damage dealt by allies against enemies currently afflicted with Burden.
Background
In the distant past, Hanya and her sister Xueyi committed a grave error as mortals but were granted a second chance by the Ten-Lords to serve as judges. By regularly consuming Memory Water, Hanya dilutes her human past and personal memories, dedicating herself to foreseeing the onset of the mara-struck condition. During the turmoil in Fyxestroll Garden, she assisted Huohuo and the Trailblazer's group in subduing escaped Heliobi.
Relationships
Xueyi is her elder sister and fellow judge, for whom Hanya holds profound love and concern, often worrying about her puppet body's upkeep. She also works alongside Huohuo, another judge at the Ten-Lords Commission; Hanya previously assisted Huohuo by sealing the unruly Heliobus known as Tail onto her back using a talisman.
Trivia
The name Hanya draws inspiration from the traditional Go term where black stones are compared to ravens, forming a matching pair with her sister Xueyi, whose name references white egrets. In text communications, she is notorious for sending exceptionally long messages formatted entirely with spaces instead of punctuation.
