Overview

Herta is a character from the turn-based space fantasy RPG Honkai: Star Rail. She is the true master of the eponymous Herta Space Station and holds member seat #83 in the prestigious Genius Society. As an Emanator of Erudition who possesses the highest intellect on her homeworld of Blue, she is a natural genius who solely pursues her fleeting personal interests, instantly abandoning any venture once she loses motivation. In the game's world, she primarily acts and interacts with others via remote-controlled puppet bodies modeled after her own childhood self.

Appearance

In her standard puppet form, Herta displays visible ball joints on her body. She has purple eyes and long brown hair featuring straight bangs, long sideburns, and intake-style hair tufts. She wears a black beret decorated with a purple flower. Her attire consists of a white dress underneath a black shoulder-exposing sailor-style dress with detached sleeves, accessorized with a choker and a necklace, paired with black boots. Her main weapon is a large hammer. In her true "The Herta" form, her hair features a brown-to-purple gradient under a pointed magic hat, complemented by a backless outfit, black pantyhose, asymmetric boots, and painted nails.

Personality

Herta possesses an immensely self-centered, arrogant, and tsundere personality, openly boasting of her perfection. Blunt and tsundere in her communication, she speaks her mind without regard for diplomacy. Because she moves purely out of intellectual curiosity, she loses interest rapidly and leaves the mundane administration of her space station to others. Despite her haughty demeanor and severe tongue, she maintains deep respect for genuine intellectual peers within the Genius Society and operates according to her own strict sense of logic and pride.

Abilities

As an Ice-element character following the Path of The Erudition, Herta excels at dealing area-of-effect damage to multiple targets. In battle, she swings a heavy hammer to strike all enemies and summons a massive diamond in her Ultimate to crush foes with Ice damage. Her talent triggers a follow-up attack whenever an enemy's health drops below half, causing her to spin with her hammer to hit all adversaries, which can stack sequentially if multiple enemies cross the threshold at once. Her Technique grants an attack buff at the start of combat.

Background

Born on the planet Blue, Herta achieved legendary academic feats from a young age, solving complex algorithmic puzzles, discovering subatomic particle transformations, and developing a paper on reversal of aging, which she successfully applied to herself. After saving her home planet from destruction nineteen times and contacting Aeons, she constructed the Herta Space Station to securely contain dangerous Curios and a Stellarion. Later, she initiated the Simulated Universe project alongside other masterminds, bringing the Trailblazer aboard her station to serve as the primary test subject.

Relationships

Within the Genius Society, she collaborates closely with Ruan Mei, Screwllum, and Stephen Lloyd as co-creators of the Simulated Universe. She entrusts the daily running and logistics of her space station to its acting lead, Asta. She takes a strong experimental interest in the Trailblazer due to the Stellaron contained within them, using them as a tester. Additionally, she holds complex business ties with the Interastral Peace Corporation and engages in conflict with hackers such as Silver Wolf.

Trivia

Her follow-up attack voice lines—such as "Kuru kuru~" and "Kururin~"—combined with her spinning animation became a massive global Internet meme, inspiring countless fan edits and videos online. Etymologically, the name Herta is associated with Old Dutch roots meaning "heart" as well as Germanic roots signifying life force, with some interpretations connecting it to "Eartha."
