Appearance
Tingyun is a Foxian visual featuring green eyes, black hair with red-tipped gradient ends, M-shaped bangs, and prominent fox ears alongside a single fox tail. Her standard outfit leaves her shoulders bare with detached sleeves, paired with sandals, bracelets, and a decorative hand fan. In her altered state known as Fugue, her hairstyle becomes significantly longer, and she possesses multiple fox tails.
Personality
Possessing exceptional diplomacy and charm, Tingyun carries an exceptionally polite demeanor that effortlessly engages those around her. Beneath her gentle exterior lies a shrewd business sense, preferring peaceful resolution and mutual profit over conflict. She values elegancy in all matters, avoiding anything she considers overly crude or unrefined.
Abilities
In combat, Tingyun functions as a support unit who empowers a chosen ally with a buff that raises their Attack and adds extra Lightning damage to their strikes. Her Ultimate restores a significant amount of Energy to a target ally while boosting their overall damage output. Additionally, her Technique instantly recovers her own Energy prior to engagement, and she carries a specialized folding fan crafted by the Artisanship Commission.
Background
Born on the Xianzhou Luofu, Tingyun developed a desire for the sky during her youth and eventually became an Amicassador facilitating interstellar trade. Prior to the Express crew's arrival on the Luofu, her identity was stolen by the Lord Ravager Phantylia, who impersonated her to cause chaos from within. Having barely survived the encounter, she was rescued and restored by Ruan Mei, later embarking on a new path under the title of Fugue.
Relationships
Yukong serves as both her revered superior and an inspirational figure whom Tingyun holds in high esteem. She addresses members of the Astral Express—such as the Trailblazer, March 7th, and Welt—as her venerated guests and benefactors. Furthermore, her life was preserved through the intervention of Ruan Mei, and her recovery involved assistance from general Feixiao.
Trivia
Her name is believed to originate from the classical poem 'Ting Yun' by the Jin dynasty poet Tao Yuanming. Her alternate title's English counterpart, 'Fugue', refers to a musical form of counterpoint as well as a state of dissociation.
