Overview
Sunday is a character from Honkai: Star Rail who originally served as the head of the Oak Family and representative of the five major clans in Penacony. He is a 5-star playable character following the Path of Harmony with the Imaginary attribute. Driven by an intense desire to build a peaceful paradise free from suffering, he acts as a polite and gentle leader on the surface while pursuing a deep-rooted personal ideology behind the scenes.
Appearance
Sunday is a Halovian man featuring medium-length light blue-grey hair with M-shaped bangs, golden eyes, wings attached to his head, and a floating halo behind his head. He wears earrings on his left head-wing. His attire includes a grey shirt beneath a long-sleeved white hooded cloak, paired with black trousers, black gloves, long black boots, and a blue thigh belt on his right leg. He is also adorned with rings and other jewelry.
Personality
On the surface, Sunday is polite, gentle, and deeply devoted to aiding others. However, he is also a cunning tactician who hides a rigid worldview. Believing that sheltering people from reality is the only way to spare them from pain, his ideals lean toward a protective, almost confining approach to happiness. He is fiercely protective of his younger sister Robin and exhibits strong perfectionist tendencies, notably regarding neatness and order.
Abilities
In battle, Sunday functions as a buffer who excels at supporting single allies and their summons. His capabilities allow him to instantly advance a target's action, increase their damage output, boost their Critical Rate and Critical Damage, and restore their Energy. He can also cleanse a debuff from a target upon skill activation and generate starting Energy for himself. In narrative encounters, he took on a powerful transformation tied to the Order known as 'The Great Septimus'.
Background
After losing his parents at a young age, Sunday and his sister Robin were taken in by Gopher Wood. Rising to become the head of the Oak Family, listening to the grievances of Penacony's residents led him to question the Path of Harmony. Believing that only the absolute control of the Order could create a painless world, he orchestrated a plan to trap humanity in a permanent dream. After his defeat by the Trailblazer and the Astral Express crew, he was freed from captivity and began wandering as a traveler looking to find a new path.
Relationships
Robin is his cherished younger sister, with whom he shares a deep bond and a childhood promise. Gopher Wood served as his adoptive father and superior. Wanweike is an entity born from a split portion of his memories. He previously clashed with Aventurine and Gallagher during the events in Penacony. Following his defeat, he interacted with Welt Yang and eventually joined the Astral Express as a passenger.
Trivia
Due to his name and his ultimate philosophy of creating a world of endless rest, Sunday is frequently associated with weekend and daily calendar themes among the fanbase. As a member of the Halovian species, his head-wings and floating halo are physical traits that can be groomed or moved.
