Seele

Overview

Seele is a playable Quantum-element character following the Path of The Hunt in Honkai: Star Rail. Serving as a core member of the Underworld resistance group Wildfire on the planet Jarilo-VI, she is widely known by her alias Babochka (Butterfly). Raised in the harsh subterranean environment of Belobog, she combines fierce martial capability with a strong protective instinct for the people of the Underworld.

Appearance

Seele has long hair that is black on the outer layer and blue on the inner layer, complemented by an ahoge and long asymmetrical side locks. Her blue-purple eyes flash red when she activates her ultimate ability. She wears an asymmetrical costume comprising a white leotard over a black top, paired with black short shorts, a purple detached collar, and purple detached sleeves with a red armband on her left arm. She wears a single black glove on her right hand, a thigh ring, and black boots. In combat, she wields a large scythe as her primary weapon.

Personality

Seele possesses a frank, spirited, and direct demeanor, hiding a sensitive and caring nature beneath her tough exterior. Shaped by her solitary upbringing in the perilous Underworld, she is quick to react and accustomed to using force to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Originally inclined to view the world through rigid black-and-white perspectives, interaction with others gradually softens her outlook. Though often brash and tsundere in her communication, she demonstrates deep loyalty to her allies and a gentle side toward children.

Abilities

Seele is a single-target Quantum attacker following the Path of The Hunt, characterized by her high movement speed. Her core Talent, Resurgence, grants an extra turn and triggers an Amplified state that boosts damage whenever she defeats an enemy using any of her attacks. Her Skill, Sheathed Blade, enhances her speed while dealing Quantum damage, and her Ultimate, Butterfly Flurry, activates the Amplified state to deliver heavy damage to a single foe. Through her Traces, she advances her action after basic attacks and gains Quantum RES PEN while Amplified. Her Technique, Phantom Illusion, grants 20 seconds of stealth to initiate combat pre-amplified.

Background

Seele grew up as an orphan in the Underworld of Belobog on Jarilo-VI, enduring the harsh reality of a realm isolated from the Overworld. She joined Wildfire, led by former Silvermain officer Oleg, to safeguard the poverty-stricken population from monsters and chaos. Initially harboring deep resentment toward the Overworld authority, her path crossed with Bronya Rand during a mission to secure vital medical supplies. Through their shared trials during the Stellaron crisis, Seele reconciled her grievances, helping defeat Cocolia and reopen the borders between the realms. She subsequently became a trusted advisor and defender supporting Bronya's leadership.

Relationships

Seele shares a profound and transformative partnership with Bronya Rand, growing from mutual hostility to a deep bond of trust that bridges the gap between the Overworld and Underworld. She respects Wildfire leaders Oleg and Natasha, viewing them as guiding figures. Furthermore, she acts as a protective older sister to fellow fighters like Luka and younger Underworld children like Hook.

Trivia

Her name Seele translates to soul in German, which in-universe represents an ancient Belobog word given to her by Oleg. Her alias Babochka is derived from the Russian word for butterfly. Additionally, the phrase Starry Phantom featured in her Japanese voiceover uses the Russian word staryy (old), translating to phantom of the past. While serving as a parallel counterpart to Seele Vollerei from Honkai Impact 3rd, this iteration explicitly has no surname.
