Overview

Polyxia is a character featured in Honkai: Star Rail. Originating from Amphoreus, she is a Chrysos Heir from a previous cycle and the younger twin sister of Castorice. In that past life, she served as the bearer of the authority of the Death Titan, Senatos.

Appearance

Polyxia is a young girl with light purple medium-length hair and pointy ears. She has bare shoulders, wears bandages, and goes barefoot. The right side of her face is obscured by a half-mask, and her eyes remain constantly closed. She is portrayed seated in a wheelchair. In the transformed physical remnant known as the Death Dragon Pollux, she takes the appearance of a massive skeletal dragon composed of decayed flesh and exposed bone.

Personality

Polyxia carries a warm, bright light within her heart and harbors immense devotion and love for her twin sister, Castorice. Although she learned to face destiny and death through the guidance of Gnaeus, her deep affection prevented her from accepting the loss of her loved one, leading her to defy the realm's fundamental laws out of unbearable grief.

Abilities

Polyxia wields alchemy taught by Calypso alongside the authority of the Death Titan. After her authority was split, she retained the power to refuse death, granting her body an incomplete form of immortality that blocked the River Styx. As the boss enemy Pollux, she inflicts shield-bypassing Decay damage, enters a specialized state that triggers powerful area attacks and action delays, and commands a summoned entity called the Arm of Compassion.

Background

During a previous cycle's journey, Polyxia was chosen as the successor to the Death Titan, a path requiring her to take her twin sister's life. When her sister sacrificed herself to grant Polyxia godhood, Polyxia refused to accept her death and used alchemy and divine power to resurrect her. The resulting price split the authority of Death; her sister was reborn with the power to bestow death, while Polyxia's body collapsed into the River Styx as the Death Dragon Pollux, retaining only the power to refuse death. Her lingering consciousness remained in the Underworld until her resurrected sister reunited with her, accepting the full authority of Death through a final embrace.

Relationships

She is the younger twin sister of Castorice in her past life. Polyxia studied alchemy under her mentor Calypso, a demigod of reason. She was guided by Gnaeus, a fellow Chrysos Heir of her cycle who taught her how to view death and embrace destiny. Chaos is also counted among the Chrysos Heirs of the same era.

Trivia

The names Polyxia and Pollux are derived from Polydeuces (Pollux), one of the Dioscuri in Greek mythology. Her narrative mirrors the mythological tale where Pollux shared his immortality to restore his mortal brother Castor, serving as the design foundation for her act of resurrecting her sister at great personal cost.
