Xueyi is a playable character in Honkai: Star Rail. She serves as one of the four judges of the Ten-Lords Commission on the Xianzhou Luofu, specifically charged with the duty of detention ("Ju"). Appearance
Xueyi has short black hair with red and blue highlights on the inner side (originally white hair in her past life) and red eyes. She inhabits a puppet (ingenium) body. Her outfit features a white shirt, a bead necklace, black gauntlets, a gold chain belt adorned with an oni mask, black short shorts, white pantyhose, and black shoes. She dual-wields iron chains and a double-ended Mara-sunder Awl.
Personality
Stoic and expressionless, Xueyi speaks using archaic pronouns and possesses a serious demeanor. She is a dedicated workaholic who frequently overexerts her mechanical body without regard for its damage. Despite her detached exterior, she is fiercely protective of her younger sister, Hanya. Notably, after being encouraged by her colleague Huohuo to soften her rigid texting style, she has a habit of copying and pasting emoticons without fully understanding their meanings.
Abilities
Her Basic Attack deals single-target Quantum damage, while her Skill deals Quantum damage to a target and adjacent enemies. Her Ultimate, "Divine Castigation," reduces an enemy's Toughness regardless of Weakness type, dealing higher damage the more Toughness is depleted. Through her Talent, depleting enemy Toughness by herself or allies builds stacks of "Karma," which unleashes a multi-hit follow-up attack upon reaching the stack limit. Her Technique initiates combat with an all-enemy Quantum strike. Furthermore, as a puppet, her consciousness can be temporarily transferred into spare machinery or cycranes if her body is destroyed.
Background
Xueyi served the Ten-Lords Commission alongside her sister Hanya for nearly a millennium before losing her original physical body due to a tragedy involving the Mara. Granted a second chance by the Ten-Lords, her soul was transferred into an indestructible puppet body to serve as a combat judge, earning half a day of rest for each criminal she apprehends. During events on the Xianzhou Luofu, she assisted in handling crisis situations across the realm, including the Ambrosial Arbor incident, capturing escapees in Fyxestroll Garden, and utilizing a cycrane body to transmit vital intelligence during the Shackling Prison riot.
Relationships
Hanya is her younger sister and fellow judge; the two share an immutable sisterly bond, with Hanya constantly worrying about Xueyi's frequent body damage. Huohuo is her younger colleague at the Ten-Lords Commission whom Xueyi supports and encourages. Dan Heng, Sushang, and Luocha rescued her when she was heavily damaged by the Mara-struck, with Luocha astonishingly repairing her mechanical frame. She also coordinates with high-ranking officials such as Fu Xuan, Jing Yuan, and Feixiao, as well as the Trailblazer.
Trivia
Her name "Xueyi" literally refers to white-feathered birds like egrets. In Chinese Go terminology, black and white stones are poetically referred to as crows ("Ya") and egrets ("Lu"); thus, Hanya (black stone) and Xueyi (white stone) form a paired naming convention symbolizing their absolute allegiance as pawns of the Ten-Lords Commission. Her text signature reads "In coffin, do not disturb."
