Overview

Kafka is a playable character in HoYoverse's turn-based RPG Honkai: Star Rail. She serves as a core operative and second-in-command of the Stellaron Hunters, acting under the direct guidance of Elio, 'Destiny's Slave.' Classified as a high-profile fugitive by the Interastral Peace Corporation, she follows Elio's scripts to alter destiny. In combat, she is a 5-star Lightning-attribute character who follows the Path of Nihility.

Appearance

Kafka is a woman with long wine-purple hair and blank purple eyes. Dark pince-nez sunglasses sit atop her head. Her outfit includes a white long-sleeved shirt paired with high-waisted black shorts and purple pantyhose. Over her shoulders, she wears a black jacket featuring a spiderweb pattern on the back. Accessories include purple gloves, multiple rings, a single thigh strap on her right leg, and asymmetrical black footwear consisting of a thigh-high boot on the right and an ankle-length boot on the left.

Personality

Kafka possesses a calm, elegant, and theatrical demeanor, often treating combat with the grace of a musical performance. Lacking the innate capacity to feel fear due to the nature of her homeworld, she maintains an unshakeable composure under any circumstance. Despite her cold efficiency as an assassin, she shows a uniquely gentle, protective affection towards the Trailblazer, speaking to them with warmth and intrigue.

Abilities

In battle, Kafka utilizes a Japanese katana, dual submachine guns, grenades, and lightning threads. Her primary signature technique is 'Spirit Whisper,' a powerful mind-control hypnosis activated by commands like 'Listen to me,' capable of controlling targets, suppressing mental corruption, and wiping memories. As a playable combatant, she operates as a DoT (Damage over Time) specialist, detonating existing DoT status effects—such as Shock, Bleed, Burn, and Wind Shear—instantly via her Combat Skill and Ultimate.

Background

Kafka originates from Pteruges-V, a world corrupted by a Stellaron where human inhabitants were incapable of feeling fear and surrendered to impulse. Formerly working as a Demon Hunter, she accepted Elio's offer to join the Stellaron Hunters in pursuit of personal change and a future where she could experience true emotion. She assisted in recruiting members like Sam, Blade, and Silver Wolf. Under Elio's instruction, she boarded the Herta Space Station to implant a Stellaron into the Trailblazer, kicking off the main journey.

Relationships

She acts as one of Elio's most trusted operatives, dedicated to bringing about the future he foresees. She shares a profound past and mutual connection with the Trailblazer, whom she guided before the events of the main story. With Blade, she uses her Spirit Whisper ability to keep his Mara-struck state under control. She maintains a close working relationship with her fellow Stellaron Hunters, Silver Wolf and Firefly (Sam).

Trivia

Kafka's name is derived from the real-world author Franz Kafka. Her official IPC wanted record lists her bounty at 10.899 billion credits, with her only documented habit being her hobby of collecting coats. Her iconic Ultimate ability finishes with her playfully saying 'Boom!' before detonating her explosives.
