Overview
Alessi is a minor antagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusaders. He is a thirty-eight-year-old unmarried mercenary hired by DIO as one of the Egypt 9 Glory Gods. Petty, cowardly, and deeply sadistic, he takes pleasure in tormenting vulnerable individuals and children. He relies on his shadow-bound Stand ability to regress his opponents into helpless infants, giving himself an unfair physical advantage in battle.
Appearance
Alessi is distinguished by his unusual purple hairstyle that expands broadly to the sides, decorated with hair bells and ornaments. He has black eyes and wears under-rim glasses. His attire consists of a short-sleeved shirt paired with overalls. Concealed beneath his clothing are heavy weapons, including a handgun and a hand axe engraved with the letters "AX." He also wears accessories such as rings, bracelets, and earrings.
Personality
Alessi is a cunning and cowardly sadist who takes delight in oppressing children and those unable to fight back. He avoids direct confrontations with formidable adults, always choosing to retreat until he can secure a completely one-sided advantage. Despite his depraved habits, he maintains a self-serving logic that he is entirely normal. He frequently utters his signature condescending phrase, "Good boy," while mocking his targets.
Abilities
Alessi commands Sethan, a bound Stand integrated with his own shadow. The shadow can stretch freely and regresses the age, memories, intelligence, and powers of anyone who makes contact with it. The extent of regression depends on exposure duration, capable of turning a target into a toddler or even a pre-birth fetus within seconds. If targets lacked Stand powers at the regressed age, they lose access to them. When Alessi wields weapons such as his axe or gun, Sethan copies the equipment in shadow form to deal physical damage. In profile, the Stand resembles a vicious bird.
Background
As one of the mercenaries hired by DIO representing the Egypt 9 Glory Gods, Alessi targeted Jean Pierre Polnareff and Jotaro Kujo in Egypt while his partner Mariah confronted their allies. He ambushed Polnareff, regressing him to a toddler, and later turned an innocent woman who protected the boy into a fetus. Despite backing Polnareff into a corner, he was outsmarted and forced to flee out a window. He then targeted Jotaro Kujo, reducing him to a seven-year-old child before Stand powers manifested. However, the young Jotaro retained his tough temperament and beat Alessi unconscious with bare fists. Upon awakening, Alessi was struck by a simultaneous Stand rush from the restored Jotaro and Polnareff, sending him flying into the distance and permanently retiring him.
Relationships
Alessi serves DIO purely as a hired mercenary for money. He targeted Jean Pierre Polnareff, reducing him to a toddler, but was ultimately thwarted by Polnareff's resourcefulness. He also confronted Jotaro Kujo, de-aging him to a seven-year-old child, only to be unexpectedly overpowered by the young boy's innate combat prowess. Within DIO's agents, he operated in tandem with Mariah, another member of the Egypt 9 Glory Gods, coordinating their ambush against the Joestar group.
Trivia
Alessi's name is derived from the American pop music duo the Alessi Brothers. His Stand, Sethan, takes its name from Set, the Egyptian deity of storms and violence. In fan culture, particularly on platform sites like Pixiv, the term "Alessi Mode" is used as a tag for fan art depicting characters de-aged into children. Fans frequently compare his age-reversal Stand ability to the aging ability of Prosciutto's Stand, The Grateful Dead, from Part 5.
