Overview

Kujo Jolyne is the main protagonist of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean and the franchise's first female JoJo. A Japanese-American teenager and the daughter of Kujo Jotaro, she is wrongfully convicted of a crime and sent to Green Dolphin Street Prison. Upon learning that her father has been targeted by a hidden enemy, she resolves to fight for his survival. Combining her father's sharp composure with immense emotional resilience, she stands as one of the most tenacious figures in the series.

Appearance

Jolyne features green eyes and a distinctive hairstyle combining double hair buns on top with a braided section in the back, typically rendered in a two-tone color scheme such as green and black. She wears a crop top patterned with spider webs that exposes her midriff, coupled with pants directly integrated with her boots. Her outfit includes a large heart-shaped brooch decorated with a knife and butterfly design, matching a tattoo on her left forearm. Additionally, she bears the signature star-shaped Joestar birthmark on her back and has a star navel piercing.

Personality

Originally a rebellious delinquent, Jolyne possesses a harsh and defiant demeanor on the surface, but harbors a deeply compassionate and supportive heart. Though initially resentful of her father's perceived neglect, her ordeal brings her to understand his intentions, driving rapid emotional maturity. She balances expressive sensitivity with an unwavering resolve and a keen tactical mind under pressure. Adopting a feminine variation of her father's phrase, "Yare yare dawa," she displays exceptional mental fortitude when facing daunting adversity.

Abilities

After being scratched by a Stand Arrow fragment sent by her father, Jolyne awakens her Stand, Stone Free. The ability allows her to unravel her own body into string and control it freely. She utilizes this thread for diverse functions, including stitching injuries, creating protective clothing or nets, and hardening it into tools like handcuffs or drills. By gathering her thread, she forms a powerful close-range humanoid Stand capable of executing devastating physical attacks accompanied by the shout "Ora Ora." In combat, she can also unravel parts of her torso to evade direct damage or construct a Mobius strip to counter space-inverting attacks.

Background

Raised in the United States, Jolyne turned to delinquency due to her father's distance, gaining a minor record before attempting to live a normal life. However, her boyfriend Romeo Jisso framed her for a fatal hit-and-run, resulting in a 15-year sentence at Green Dolphin Street Prison. Upon receiving a package from her father containing a Stand Arrow fragment, she gained her abilities. When Father Enrico Pucci extracted Jotaro's memory and Stand DISCs, Jolyne gave up her chance to escape immediately, staying behind to retrieve them. Following a grueling series of battles, she escaped the facility and pursued Pucci to Kennedy Space Center, ultimately sacrificing herself so her surviving ally could escape.

Relationships

Jolyne initially resented her father, Kujo Jotaro, but reconciled with him after realizing his devotion to protecting her. Inside the prison, she formed close alliances with Ermes Costello, Foo Fighters, Emporio Alnino, and Weather Report. Narciso Anasui harbored romantic feelings toward her and fought alongside her team. Her primary enemy was Father Enrico Pucci, whose plot she fought tirelessly to thwart. She was betrayed by her ex-boyfriend Romeo Jisso, though she later confronted him during her escape to secure transport.

Trivia

Her name originates from the Dolly Parton song "Jolene." She starred in the Gucci collaboration spin-off comic "Jolyne, Fly High with Gucci" as a seventeen-year-old high school student alongside Part 5 characters Bruno Bucciarati and Leone Abbacchio. Uniquely among JoJo protagonists, she never kills any human opponents directly throughout her original story arc. Following the universe reset at the end of Part 6, a parallel universe counterpart named Irene appears in her stead.
