Overview

Mountain Tim is a supporting character in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run. A 31-year-old cowboy from Wyoming known as the "Legendary Cowboy," he is famous for guiding 3,000 cattle across a distance of 4,000 kilometers annually. Highly favored to win the Steel Ball Run race, he also serves as a temporary deputy sheriff tasked with investigating a series of gruesome murders during the event. Honorable and skilled in both horsemanship and roping, he plays a key role as a dependable ally early in the story.

Appearance

Mountain Tim is a light-haired man with blue eyes. He wears a white cowboy hat decorated with a zebra-print band and a small cow skull ornament, along with a leopard-print shirt, matching scarf, and gloves. A five-pointed star sheriff's badge is pinned to the left side of his upper torso, and he wears a gun holster belt. After surviving an explosion, he gains a prominent facial scar.

Personality

Tim is a dependable and noble gentleman with a strong sense of justice, holding deep disdain for evil and crime. While generally polite and soft-spoken, he demonstrates a harsh, sharp-tongued attitude when confronting villains. Rather than seeking a fatal glorious end, he harbored a simple desire for a place to return to after his long travels.

Abilities

Tim possesses the Stand named Oh! Lonesome Me. By holding a rope, he can segment and disassemble any body part touching it—including his own—and slide those pieces freely along the length of the rope to pass through narrow spaces, dodge attacks, or launch surprise gunshots from hidden angles. It cannot heal existing wounds. Additionally, he possesses extraordinary roping proficiency, high-level marksmanship, and an uncanny natural ability to command horses.

Background

While serving in the military, Tim entered the mysterious Devil's Palm desert, becoming the sole survivor of his unit by awakening his Stand powers to gather nightly dew. He became the first person to coin the term "Stand." During the Steel Ball Run, he investigated a murder spree, teaming up with Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli. After suffering severe injuries from Oyecomova's attack, he withdrew from the race. He later rushed to assist Lucy Steel upon receiving her distress call, ultimately facing the assassin Blackmore and dying in battle to protect her.

Relationships

During the race, Tim formed a cooperative bond with Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli while confronting shared enemies. He fell in love with Lucy Steel from their first meeting and gave his life to protect her identity from the assassin Blackmore. His horse is named Ghost Rider in the Sky.

Trivia

The name of his Stand, Oh! Lonesome Me, is derived from the country song by Don Gibson. His character name is inspired by musical references such as Molly Nilsson's "Mountain Time." Due to his role as an early ally to the main characters and his distinct facial scar, he is often viewed by fans as a narrative counterpart to Robert E. O. Speedwagon from the original universe.
