Overview
A character from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 6: Stone Ocean. She is a 22-year-old female inmate serving time at Green Dolphin Street Prison, where she becomes the cellmate of the protagonist, Jolyne Cujoh. Utilizing a newly awakened Stand ability, she acts as an early antagonist who tries to orchestrate a prison break by manipulating others.
Appearance
She is a 22-year-old woman standing between 171 cm and 173 cm tall, with a weight listed between 55 kg and 56 kg. She has long black hair, blue eyes, and blue lipstick. Three small tattoo-like dots are distinctly marked under each of her eyes. Her outfit consists of a headband, a striped shirt, and a green jacket.
Personality
Gwess is fundamentally insecure, paranoid, and distrustful of others. Although she desperately craves companionship, her intense desire for control leads her to dominate anyone she interacts with to maintain the upper hand. She experiences extreme mood swings, shifting rapidly from loud, threatening aggression to subservient meekness. She also exhibits a disturbing habit of treating shrunken victims as personal pets, dressing them in animal skins while repeatedly petting and praising them.
Abilities
Gwess awakened her Stand, Goo Goo Dolls, after being cut by a Stand Arrow fragment bought from Ermes Costello. This long-distance Stand possesses a target's body and rapidly shrinks them down to doll size. If the affected individual disobeys or acts against Gwess's instructions, the Stand automatically attacks to kill them. Gwess cannot shrink her own body, and the size-reduction effect naturally weakens as the target moves further away from her.
Background
Serving a 12-year sentence under inmate number FE18081 for arson, attempted murder, and escape while on parole, Gwess was already residing at Green Dolphin Street Prison when Jolyne Cujoh arrived. After acquiring her Stand, she shrank a guard and kept him inside a parrot carcass as a pet. She later shrank Jolyne, dressed her in a stuffed rat skin, and forced her to assist in a prison escape. However, Jolyne manifested her Stand, Stone Free, and defeated Gwess with a heavy barrage of strikes. Following her defeat, Gwess adopted a submissive attitude and remained in the cell as an advice-giving roommate.
Relationships
Gwess is the prison cellmate of Jolyne Cujoh. She initially mistreated Jolyne by shrinking her and trying to use her to escape, but after being thoroughly defeated, she shifted to a meek, clingy demeanor and began offering advice and assistance in exchange for small favors. The Stand Arrow fragment that granted Gwess her ability was originally purchased from Ermes Costello.
Trivia
Her character name is inspired by the American fashion brand GUESS, while her Stand's name comes from the American rock group The Goo Goo Dolls. She holds the unique distinction of being the very first recipient of Jolyne Cujoh's signature 'Ora Ora' punch rush in the series. Additionally, she is the only hostile Stand user in Part 6 who has no connection whatsoever to Enrico Pucci or Whitesnake.
