Mike O.

Overview

Mike O. is a character featured in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run. Serving as a dedicated bodyguard to United States President Funny Valentine, he is a Stand user tasked with executive protection and internal security. Operating behind the scenes during the sixth stage of the Steel Ball Run race, he uses his abilities to eliminate government traitors.

Appearance

Mike O. is an American man with dark skin, short hair, and a neatly trimmed mustache and goatee. He wears a suit with a distinctive checkered pattern and a matching top hat. His attire includes an ascot tie, a coat, a belt with a pouch, a holster, and boots.

Personality

Mike O. possesses unyielding loyalty to President Funny Valentine and the First Lady. He takes his duties as a guard with utmost seriousness, relentlessly tracking down security breaches. He exhibits a peculiar speech habit of frequently appending the phrase '...the world' into his spoken sentences.

Abilities

Mike O. commands the Stand Tubular Bells, an ability without a visible physical form. By exhaling into metal objects such as nails, he transforms them into autonomous balloon art creatures, including dogs and birds. These objects gain balloon elasticity while retaining metallic density; canine versions can track targets by scent. Once inside a victim's body, they violently revert to solid metal, unleashing kinetic energy that destroys targets from within. In certain localized media, the Stand's name is shortened to Tubular.

Background

During the sixth stage of the race, Mike O. investigates internal sabotage based on intel provided by Diego Brando. Using his Stand, he corners the intruder, Lucy Steel, inside the executive residence. However, Lucy manipulates his Stand into accidentally causing the death of First Lady Scarlet Valentine. Hot Pants soon intervenes, leading to a violent clash. Though Mike O. identifies the spy during the confrontation, he is defeated and killed before he can warn the President.

Relationships

Mike O. is fiercely devoted to President Funny Valentine and First Lady Scarlet Valentine. He acts upon operational intelligence from Diego Brando to track down an infiltrator. He corners Lucy Steel, but her tactics cause his Stand to inadvertently kill Scarlet Valentine. He engages Hot Pants in battle immediately afterward, resulting in his death.

Trivia

Mike O. and his Stand, Tubular Bells, derive their names from British musician Mike Oldfield and his famous composition and album Tubular Bells. In Western localized video games, the Stand name was abbreviated to Tubular to prevent trademark conflicts.
