Overview
Midler is an antagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusaders and its derivative works. Serving as a fiercely loyal subordinate to DIO, she is a Stand User representing the second Tarot card of the Major Arcana, High Priestess. Recognized even by Mohammed Avdol prior to their encounter, she stands as a formidable assassin sent to eliminate the Joestar group.
Appearance
In the original manga and TV anime, Midler is only seen at a distance wearing a white dress with long hair (depicted as light blue in the anime), her face remaining completely unrevealed. In the fighting game Heritage for the Future, she was redesigned by the series creator as a gold-eyed beauty with purple hair in a ponytail, wearing a revealing gypsy-style outfit with a starfish-shaped bra, a veil, earrings, and an anklet. A separate game depiction portrays her in a flight attendant uniform.
Personality
Midler possesses an intense devotion to DIO, willing to lay down her life for him. She is flirtatious and vain, openly declaring that Jotaro Kujo is her type and enjoying compliments; however, she has a volatile temper and flies into a rage if she senses insincerity. She also exhibits a confident and bold attitude when confronting her opponents.
Abilities
Midler controls the long-range Stand High Priestess, which can shapeshift into or assimilate with minerals, metals, glass, and resins. It features sharp claws capable of slicing steel and can disguise itself as submarine components or seabed rocks. Its size increases when closer to the user, growing large enough to swallow multiple people and utilizing teeth with hardness rivaling diamonds to crush its targets.
Background
Operating remotely from the African continent, Midler attacked the Joestar group as they crossed the sea in a submarine. By assimilating into the vessel's components, she forced them to evacuate into the water, where she transformed her Stand into the seabed itself to swallow them whole. Attempting to crush Jotaro Kujo with her Stand's teeth, her Stand was shattered by Star Platinum's barrage, destroying all its teeth and rendering her unconscious.
Relationships
Midler is unflaggingly devoted to her master, DIO. She expresses romantic interest toward her target, Jotaro Kujo, while simultaneously attempting to crush him, and reacts with hostility toward Jean Pierre Polnareff and the rest of his allies during their confrontation.
Trivia
Her name is derived from the American singer and actress Bette Midler. When her character design was officially created for the fighting game adaptation, her portrait graphics were modeled after the facial features of Yukako Yamagishi.
