Overview
A supporting character from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusaders. She is the daughter of Joseph Joestar and Suzi Q, and the mother of the protagonist, Kujo Jotaro. Having married the Japanese jazz musician Kujo Sadao, the forty-five-year-old American woman relocated to Japan, where she lives as a devoted homemaker. Possessing an extraordinarily cheerful and gentle temperament, her sudden life-threatening illness caused by a Stand curse serves as the primary catalyst for the heroes' journey to Egypt.
Appearance
She is depicted as a woman with blonde hair and blue eyes, wearing earrings and bearing a star-shaped birthmark. Her clothing includes a long-sleeved shirt, a skirt, and a frilled apron. Official animation production materials record her height as 170 centimeters. Flashback scenes in the animated adaptation also show her appearance during childhood.
Personality
She possesses an exceptionally bright, cheerful, and soothing aura that instantly puts those around her at ease. She dotes unconditionally on her son, Kujo Jotaro, showing him constant affection regardless of his rough behavior or harsh words. Highly affectionate toward her father, Joseph Joestar, she playfully insists that he address her by the Japanese name "Seiko." While fundamentally peaceful and gentle, she also displays remarkable emotional resilience, hiding her physical suffering to keep her family from worrying.
Abilities
Following the reawakening of DIO, she manifested an unnamed Stand resembling a vine or fern adorned with leaves and berries, visually similar to Joseph's Stand. Because she completely lacks a combat spirit or aggressive intent, she is unable to control it, causing its spiritual energy to backfire as a feverish curse. While its detailed parameters remain undefined, creator commentary indicates it would have functioned as a healing Stand had it fully awakened.
Background
Born in the United States to Joseph Joestar and Suzi Q, she later married Japanese musician Kujo Sadao and moved to Japan, residing there for twenty years. While raising her seventeen-year-old son, Kujo Jotaro, DIO's resurrection triggered the awakening of her Stand. Unable to withstand its force due to her non-violent nature, she collapsed with a high fever, leaving her with an estimated fifty days to live. To save her life, Joseph and Jotaro set out for Egypt to destroy DIO. Even while bedridden, she hid her illness during phone calls with her mother, Suzi Q, to spare her worry. Upon DIO's death, the Stand curse was broken and she recovered completely.
Relationships
She showers her son, Kujo Jotaro, with intense maternal affection, remaining completely unfazed by his tough demeanor. She shares a loving bond with her father, Joseph Joestar, badgering him to use her Japanese name "Seiko." Her mother, Suzi Q, travels to Japan to nurse her back to health. Noriaki Kakyoin, upon visiting her home, is touched by her comforting presence and fortitude, remarking that she represents his ideal of a romantic partner. Her extended family tree includes her half-brother Higashikata Josuke, adoptive sister Shizuka Joestar, and granddaughter Kujo Jolyne.
Trivia
Her name "Holy" inspired her Japanese alias "Seiko," derived from the translation meaning "sacred." In the animated adaptation, she is shown humming the song "Blue Lagoon" by 1980s pop singer Matsuda Seiko. The original manga narrative of Part 3 opens from her reflective maternal perspective as she watches her son grow up.
