Mariah

Overview

Mariah is an antagonist from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusaders. As a member of the Egypt 9 Glory Gods who serve DIO, she is dispatched to eliminate the Joestar group. Combining striking beauty with a cold-blooded tactical mind, she operates as a seductive assassin who drives her targets into desperate situations.

Appearance

She is a dark-skinned woman whose features vary by medium; the colored manga depicts her with blonde hair and blue eyes, whereas the anime features silver hair and golden eyes. Her outfit includes sunglasses worn on her head, a pink or red hooded short-sleeved coat, gloves, a miniskirt, and tights that highlight her long legs.

Personality

Mariah typically projects a calm, glamorous persona, frequently smoking cigarettes while remaining poised. Beneath this exterior lies a ruthless nature that disregards the safety of bystanders. When her plans fail, her composed facade breaks down, causing her face to distort in anger as she hurls vulgar insults. Despite these outbursts, she quickly restores her composure and is practical enough to respect enemy cleverness, as shown by her admiration for Joseph Joestar's quick wit.

Abilities

She commands the Stand named Bastet, which manifests in the shape of an electrical wall outlet. Anyone who touches the Stand is transformed into a living magnet, causing metal objects in the vicinity to be drawn toward them with a magnetic force that grows steadily stronger over time.

Background

In Luxor, Egypt, Mariah waits in ambush and successfully magnetizes Joseph Joestar and Muhammad Avdol. Taking advantage of their restricted movement, she pursues them through the city and attempts to electrocute them with severed electrical lines. However, Joseph outsmarts her by placing her in a pincer position between them. Drawn together by their combined magnetic pull, Mariah is crushed beneath the two men and a massive pile of metal debris, sustaining full-body bone fractures. In the spinoff Crazy Diamond's Demonic Heartbreak, set ten years later, she recovers, marries Kenny G, and runs an inn.

Relationships

Mariah holds absolute devotion toward DIO, considering no other man comparable to his charm. Although Joseph Joestar is her target, she expresses a brief romantic interest in him due to his sharpness during battle. She also fights against Muhammad Avdol. In a later spinoff story, she is married to Kenny G and interacts with Hol Horse and Boingo.

Trivia

Her name is derived from singer Mariah Carey. While her name was originally printed as "Maraiya" in early manga chapters, subsequent official releases and adaptations unified the spelling to "Mariah". In the anime adaptation, her chest size was depicted larger than in the original manga design.
