Spurred by a fortune-teller's prediction that he would enjoy extraordinary good luck, he enters the grueling competition riding his Quarter Horse. Though lacking top-tier equestrian talent, his unmatched personal fortune and relaxed composure allow him to overcome formidable obstacles and contend with the race's most skilled competitors.
Appearance
Pocoloco is a young Black man with dark skin, black hair, and black eyes. He wears facial hair around his chin. His Stand, Hey Ya!, takes the form of a small, doll-like figure.
Personality
Naturally lazy and easygoing, Pocoloco frequently slacked off on his farming chores. Despite his relaxed demeanor, he possesses a strong mental fortitude that keeps him optimistic in adversity, along with keen observation skills regarding horses. He trusts his own extraordinary good luck implicitly, allowing him to charge forward without hesitation.
Abilities
Pocoloco has practical knowledge of horses, such as determining pregnancy and its stage by inspecting manure. He also possesses the Stand Hey Ya!, which has its own consciousness and appears as a small doll-like vision. The Stand gives him verbal advice and encouragement, boosting his confidence. Hey Ya! has no offensive power or luck-manipulating abilities; it simply encourages Pocoloco so that he can rely on his natural good fortune without hesitation.
Background
Born in Georgia to parents who had gained their freedom from slavery, Pocoloco led a relaxed life on a farm. After a fortune-teller predicted that he would experience unprecedented good luck over the next two months, he decided to enter the Steel Ball Run race for its massive prize money. Although he overslept on the first day and started late, his natural luck and the encouragement of his Stand, Hey Ya!, enabled him to clear difficult terrain and obstacles. Completely uninvolved in the deadly conflicts over the Saint's Corpse, he consistently placed high throughout the legs of the race and ultimately won overall victory, securing a massive fortune.
Relationships
Pocoloco competes in the race alongside his four-year-old Quarter Horse named Hey! Ya!. His unconventional riding style and sheer good luck earned the intense caution of elite competitors such as Gyro Zeppeli and Johnny Joestar. Additionally, he made key decisions during the competition by observing and following the actions of Sandman.
Trivia
Pocoloco's name is inspired by the song "Un Poco Loco" by jazz pianist Bud Powell. Although the fortune-teller predicted his extraordinary luck would last for two months, the Steel Ball Run race ultimately extended beyond that timeframe, indicating that his miraculous period had technically expired during the latter stages of the race.
