Overview

Oingo is an antagonist appearing in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusaders. As a member of the Egypt 9 Glory Gods serving DIO, he operates alongside his younger brother, Boingo, as part of the duo known as the Oingo Boingo Brothers. He seeks to eliminate the Joestar group by combining his shape-shifting ability with his brother's precognitive powers. Despite his role as an assassin, his schemes end in self-sabotage without the protagonists ever realizing his presence.

Appearance

Oingo is depicted as a tall young man with dark skin and a stern, glaring expression. He has black hair, and his eyes are blue in the original manga while rendered as purple in the television anime adaptation. He regularly wears a hat on his head.

Personality

Though he exhibits a rough, hot-tempered, and thug-like demeanor, Oingo is genuinely devoted to his younger brother, Boingo. He often displays an impatient and foolish side during missions, leading to comedic failures when his schemes crumble. Nevertheless, he is a deeply caring sibling who takes pride in his brother's growth.

Abilities

Oingo commands the Stand Khnum, which lacks a physical avatar and instead directly alters the user's bodily form. It allows him to precisely adjust his height, weight, facial features, and body scent. He can morph his hair to replicate accessories such as a hat, though the ability cannot alter his clothing. Because his inner mind remains unchanged, impersonating others relies on his own acting ability. In terms of Stand parameters, Khnum possesses E ratings in Destructive Power, Speed, Range, Precision, and Growth Potential, while holding an A rating in Persistence.

Background

In Aswan, Egypt, Oingo and his brother attempt to assassinate the Joestar group using the precognitive comic book Stand, Tohth. After an initial poisoning plan fails, Oingo prepares an explosive disguised as an orange. Caught in the act by Joseph Joestar and Jean Pierre Polnareff, he uses Khnum to morph into Jotaro Kujo and is forced into their vehicle. After a tense ride spent deflecting suspicion, he escapes the car, only to step on the orange bomb that Polnareff had tossed aside. The resulting explosion severely injures his face, fulfilling Tohth's prediction. Shortly after, a passerby whom Oingo had previously mugged returns with a group of men, beating the brothers into hospitalization.

Relationships

Oingo shares a close bond with his younger brother, Boingo, relying implicitly on Boingo's precognitive Stand during their operations. As members of the Egypt 9 Glory Gods, the brothers follow the orders of DIO to eliminate the Joestar group. Oingo targets Jotaro Kujo, Joseph Joestar, and Jean Pierre Polnareff, even impersonating Jotaro during his scheme, though his intended victims remain entirely oblivious to his identity throughout the encounter.

Trivia

Oingo's name is derived from the American rock band Oingo Boingo, led by composer Danny Elfman. In Episode 27 of the television anime adaptation, a special ending theme titled 'Aku Yaku ◇ Kyousoukyoku ~Oingo to Boingo~' was featured; it marked the very first character song in the JoJo series and achieved high rankings on digital music charts. Additionally, the anime production staff gave his Jotaro Kujo disguise the playful nickname 'Oingo Jotaro'.
