Overview

Rubber Soul is a antagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 3: Stardust Crusaders. Hired by DIO for a fee of 100 million dollars, he is one of the seven mercenaries dispatched to assassinate Jotaro Kujo and his allies.

Appearance

Rubber Soul is a male with handsome facial features and dark medium-length hair slicked back. Utilizing his abilities, he can perfectly mimic the outward appearance of Noriaki Kakyoin. He is depicted with purple eyes in colored manga renditions and golden eyes in the animated adaptation.

Personality

Despite his refined features, Rubber Soul possesses a crude, violent demeanor and foul language. Highly narcissistic and arrogant, he firmly believes his powers have no weaknesses and boasts of his extreme luck in earning a massive sum for a brief fight. However, when cornered, he turns cowardly, begging for mercy while remaining deceitful enough to launch a sudden surprise attack the moment his opponent lowers their guard.

Abilities

He wields Yellow Temperance, a slime-like Stand named after the Temperance Tarot card. Integrated with physical matter, it is visible to non-Stand users. It acts as an absolute defensive barrier that absorbs and disperses physical impacts, negating thermal and freezing attacks. By consuming and dissolving organic flesh, it restores energy and expands in size, while also granting Rubber Soul the ability to seamlessly disguise himself as other people.

Background

In Singapore, Rubber Soul disguises himself as Noriaki Kakyoin to approach and attack Jotaro Kujo. Utilizing his Stand's defensive properties, he puts Jotaro on the defensive. However, Jotaro feigns retreat and drags him off a cable car into the water, forcing him to breach the surface for air and leaving him vulnerable to strikes. After begging for his life, he reveals critical intelligence regarding Enya the Hag and J. Geil, but his subsequent treacherous ambushing attempt results in a relentless beatdown that permanently incapacitates him.

Relationships

Rubber Soul is employed as a mercenary by DIO. He targets Jotaro Kujo, engaging him in battle in Singapore. Following his defeat, he surrenders details to Jotaro regarding DIO's associate Enya the Hag and her son J. Geil.

Trivia

His name is derived from the Beatles album Rubber Soul. The eccentric habit of rolling a cherry on his tongue while producing a distinct repetitive sound during his impersonation of Kakyoin became a famous character trait. In fighting game adaptations, he is playable in his fake Kakyoin guise, utilizing imitated techniques.
