Overview
Diavolo is the supreme leader and founder of the Italian crime syndicate Passione in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5: Golden Wind. Obsessed with maintaining his absolute reign at the top, he relentlessly eliminates anyone who poses a threat to his anonymity or authority. Operating through multiple pseudonyms and a dual personality, he controls his organization while keeping his true identity completely shrouded in secrecy.
Appearance
Diavolo features long pink hair patterned with black spots, green eyes, and dark lipstick. His attire consists of long sleeves with a purple mesh top design, dark pants, and decorative jewelry.
Personality
Diavolo possesses a grandiose superiority complex, viewing himself as an absolute monarch destined to remain at the peak of fortune. Beneath this arrogance, however, lies extreme paranoia regarding his identity and past. Deeply secretive and ruthlessly pragmatic, he is prepared to murder anyone who attempts to trace his background, including his own offspring, with cold and calculated precision.
Abilities
Diavolo commands King Crimson, a close-range humanoid Stand with a waffle-like surface texture and a range of approximately two meters. Its primary ability allows him to erase a period of time up to around ten seconds, removing the process of events so that only the final results remain. Only Diavolo can move consciously within erased time, though he cannot directly touch or attack others during it. Additionally, its sub-ability Epitaph projects an accurate vision of events occurring up to ten seconds into the future.
Background
Born in a women's prison and raised by a priest in Sardinia, Diavolo hid a disturbing past. When his adoptive father discovered his biological mother buried alive under his bedroom floor, Diavolo burned the village down and faked his death. Later that year, he excavated Stand-creating arrows in Egypt, using them to establish the gang Passione. He maintained absolute anonymity while directing operations, often using his alter ego Vinegar Doppio, until he was ultimately defeated by Giorno Giovanna and trapped in an infinite cycle of death.
Relationships
Diavolo sought to eliminate his biological daughter Trish Una to sever all ties to his past, initially tasking Bruno Bucciarati's squad with delivering her to him. Upon realizing his murderous intentions, Bucciarati's group turned against him. Diavolo personally ended the lives of several pursuers including Jean-Pierre Polnareff, Leone Abbacchio, and Narancia Ghirga, but was ultimately overcome by Giorno Giovanna.
Trivia
His name translates to 'devil' in Italian. He possesses a dissociative identity disorder, harboring a submissive younger alter ego named Vinegar Doppio within his body. The name of his Stand, King Crimson, references the influential British progressive rock group.
