Formaggio

Overview

Formaggio is a supporting antagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 5 Golden Wind. He operates as a hitman within the Execution Team of the Passione mafia organization. Despite his coarse mannerisms and thug-like impression, he is a sharp and calculating strategist who effectively compensates for his Stand's low raw power through quick thinking. Driven by the team's ambition to uncover the Boss's identity, Formaggio initiates a covert pursuit of Bruno Bucciarati's squad by ambushing Narancia Ghirga, triggering an intense tactical confrontation.

Appearance

Formaggio is a dark-skinned man standing 178 centimeters tall with a shaved head featuring carved slit patterns. His hair is dark orange in the manga and deep blue in the animated adaptation, while his eyes are depicted as black in the manga and emerald green in the anime. He dresses in a white shirt beneath a red jacket.

Personality

Although Formaggio presents himself with a crude demeanor and a habit of voicing mild reluctance, he possesses a remarkably calm, observant, and analytical mind. In battle, he carefully breaks down his opponent's tactics and devises clever counters even when under severe pressure. He exhibits a cruel and sadistic side toward enemies, such as subjecting captured targets to grotesque torture. Conversely, he holds strong bonds of camaraderie with his teammates, showing deep grief and outrage upon discovering the gruesome deaths of his fallen comrades. In his personal life, he keeps a pet cat and is a smoker.

Abilities

Formaggio commands the humanoid Stand named Little Feet. By slashing a target with the blade on its index finger, the Stand causes the victim and their carried objects to shrink progressively over time. Once inflicted, this shrinking effect continues indefinitely regardless of distance until deactivated, which instantly restores the target to normal size. Additionally, Formaggio can shrink his own body instantaneously at will. The Stand's parameters are rated as Destructive Power D, Speed B, Range E, Persistence A, Precision D, and Development Potential C.

Background

Upon learning of executive Polpo's death, Formaggio notices the absence of Bruno Bucciarati's unit at the funeral and deduces they were assigned to protect the Boss's daughter, Trish Una. He stalks Narancia Ghirga during a shopping errand, confirming his suspicion after seeing feminine items in the supplies. Formaggio ambushes Narancia and uses his shrinking power to stay hidden, deducing that Narancia's Stand, Aerosmith, tracks targets via carbon dioxide emissions. Though he successfully shrinks and captures Narancia, an unexpected explosion triggered by Narancia forces him into an open duel, resulting in his defeat.

Relationships

Formaggio serves within the Execution Team under the leadership of Risotto Nero. He shares a banter-filled dynamic with Illuso, who casually dismisses Formaggio's Stand power, while acting as a senior figure to the novice Pesci. He was deeply shaken after discovering the horrific outcome of Sorbet and Gelato's punishment by the Boss. During his fatal clash with Narancia Ghirga, the two developed a mutual respect amidst intense combat, leading Formaggio to offer a grim warning about the harsh path awaiting Bucciarati's crew before dying.

Trivia

Formaggio's name is derived from the Italian word for "cheese." His Stand's name, Little Feet, references the American rock band of the same name and their eponymous debut album. In the television animated adaptation, an original sequence was added showing Formaggio using his ability for an assassination by shrinking an entire automobile, dropping it into a target's drink, and expanding it within the victim's body.
