Overview

Suzi Q is a supporting character in the manga series JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, appearing prominently in Part 2 Battle Tendency and Part 3 Stardust Crusaders. Originating as an Italian domestic servant under Lisa Lisa, she is characterized by her cheerful and somewhat airheaded disposition. Following the conflict with the Pillar Men, she marries the protagonist Joseph Joestar, becoming an integral matriarch of the Joestar lineage. Over the decades, she transitions from a youthful maid into a devoted mother to Holy Kujo and a caring grandmother to Jotaro Kujo, anchoring the family across generations.

Appearance

In her youth, Suzi Q stands approximately 165 centimeters tall with blue eyes and styled blonde hair featuring soft bangs. She frequently adorns her head with floral hair ornaments or a kerchief, paired with earrings and decorative jewelry. Her typical attire includes a traditional maid apron uniform as well as blue dresses styled with puffy sleeves and polka-dot patterns. In her advanced years during Part 3, her hair turns silver. In the animated adaptation, she is given a distinctive walking style characterized by a rhythmic sway of her hips.

Personality

Suzi Q possesses a bright, easygoing, and notoriously airheaded personality. Although her lighthearted nature brings warmth to those around her, her absentmindedness occasionally leads to chaotic oversights, such as forgetting to deliver critical news. She retains an insatiable curiosity and energetic spirit well into her elderly years, enthusiastically capturing video footage while traveling and trying local street foods like standing curry udon. Beneath her carefree demeanor lies a steadfast core of loyalty towards her husband, though she is equally capable of intense, unforgettable anger when her trust is violated by marital deception.

Abilities

Suzi Q possesses no combat skills or supernatural abilities. Her primary expertise lies in domestic housekeeping and personal caregiving, demonstrated through her maintenance of Lisa Lisa's residence and her diligent nursing of Joseph Joestar during his recovery. When the Pillar Man Esidisi took control of her nervous system, her body was unwillingly used as a vehicle for his maneuvers until Joseph and Caesar A. Zeppeli safely purged the parasite using a joint Hamon technique. In later years, she demonstrates familiarity with operating portable V8 video recording equipment.

Background

Hailing from Italy, Suzi Q initially worked as a maid for Lisa Lisa in Venice, where she met Joseph Joestar during his Hamon training. After surviving an ordeal involving Esidisi, she nursed Joseph back to health following his climactic confrontation with Kars. The two married shortly thereafter, though her forgetting to send a telegram notifying others of his survival led to Joseph unexpectedly attending his own funeral. Moving to the United States, she gave birth to their daughter, Holy. Decades later, she traveled to Japan to support her ailing daughter during a family crisis. Years afterward, she was consumed by intense fury upon learning of Joseph's secret illegitimate son.

Relationships

Suzi Q forms the cornerstone of the Joestar family alongside her husband, Joseph Joestar, with whom she shares a lifelong marriage. Her former employer, Lisa Lisa, eventually becomes her mother-in-law following her marriage into the family. She shared a warm camaraderie with Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli, who assisted in cleansing her body of Esidisi's infection. As a mother, she shows intense devotion to her daughter, Holy Kujo, and maintains a respectful, affectionate bond with her grandson, Jotaro Kujo, who addresses her warmly as grandmother. In her travels, she is regularly assisted by her loyal butler, Roses.

Trivia

Her name is widely believed to be inspired by either the American rock singer Suzi Quatro or the classic song "Susie Q" written by Dale Hawkins. Due to the memorable storyline in which her body was briefly possessed by Esidisi, fans colloquially coined the humorous nickname "Suzi DC." In the alternate universe featured in Part 8 JoJolion, a parallel counterpart named Suzi Q also exists within the Joestar family tree as the wife of that reality's Joseph Joestar.
