Overview
Alhaitham is a playable character in Genshin Impact who serves as the Scribe for the Sumeru Akademiya. Hailing from the Haravatat Darshan, he is a scholar of exceptional intellect and analytical capacity. Despite his talents, he eschews political authority and public attention, preferring a comfortable, quiet life with stable employment. During Sumeru's political crisis, he played a pivotal role in liberating the Dendro Archon, temporarily stepping up as the Acting Grand Sage before returning to his preferred quiet routine.
Appearance
He has short grey hair with green streaks, two ahoge on top, and green eyes with bangs partially veiling his left eye. He wears a golden headphone-like headpiece over his ears, a tight black sleeveless shirt highlighting his muscular build, long detached sleeves, black partially fingerless gloves, a black and green cape, black pants, and knee-length black boots, accented by a jewel on his chest.
Personality
Driven entirely by logic and self-interest, Alhaitham maintains a calm and detached demeanor. He evaluates every situation with sharp intellect and delivers blunt truths without flattering others. While meticulous in fulfilling his explicit professional duties, he firmly rejects unnecessary meetings, political burdens, or overtime, prioritizing his personal freedom and peaceful lifestyle above all else.
Abilities
In combat, he is a Dendro main attacker who fights with a sword alongside a secondary khukuri dagger. His primary mechanic centers on generating Chisel-Light Mirrors through his Elemental Skill and charged or plunging attacks. These mirrors convert his attacks into non-overridable Dendro damage while unleashing light projection strikes scaling with his Attack and Elemental Mastery. His Elemental Burst consumes existing mirrors to deal AoE Dendro damage and generates new ones shortly after. Additionally, he has a passive chance to double yields when crafting weapon ascension materials.
Background
After graduating from the Haravatat Darshan, Alhaitham chose the Scribe position to access vast archives while avoiding political entanglements. He encountered the Traveler during an investigation into Divine Knowledge Capsules in Port Ormos. Upon discovering the Akademiya's plot to create an artificial god, he engineered a counter-plan alongside Cyno and desert allies, cleverly feigning madness to trick Grand Sage Azar and pave the way for Lesser Lord Kusanali's rescue.
Relationships
He shares a residence with Kaveh, a senior architect from Kshahrewar whom he shelters following Kaveh's financial debts; the two constantly bicker due to their clashing pragmatic and idealistic worldviews. He maintains a respectful professional working relationship with General Mahamatra Cyno, and treats the Traveler as a reliable partner in resolving major crises.
Trivia
Despite ironically referring to himself as a feeble scholar, he possesses a noticeably muscular build and formidable combat prowess. He dislikes soupy foods because they are inconvenient to eat while reading books, leading his personal specialty dish to be a modified, dry variation of Sabz Stew.
