Nefer

Overview

Nefer is a character from Genshin Impact originating from the Sumeru desert who operates as the proprietor of the Curatorium of Secrets, an intelligence and odd-job agency located in Nasha Town within Nod-Krai. Wielding a Dendro Vision alongside a Catalyst, she utilizes a melee combat style centered around martial kicking techniques. Widely praised by local residents and organizations for her rapid execution and reasonable pricing, she maintains strict independence without siding with any faction, employing her sharp intellect to maintain a distinct standing.

Appearance

Nefer has medium-length dark green hair with side intake bangs. Her green eyes feature slanted contours, a beauty mark beneath the eye, and triangular pupils. Her outfit incorporates Egyptian-style design elements, accompanied by dangling earrings, a leg ring, high heels, and a prominent bust.

Personality

Calculating and shrewd with a demeanor often compared to a cold-blooded snake, Nefer is a master strategist who stays ahead of those around her. She fulfills business commitments with absolute reliability, yet acts ruthlessly toward anyone who attempts to cross or manipulate her. While she treats her sole employee, Yafoda, with demanding pressure, she harbors a subtle warmth for her. Troubled by past trauma, she refuses to eat raw food and makes a point of drinking water frequently.

Abilities

Despite employing a Catalyst, Nefer fights close-range using kicking martial arts. Her Normal Attack delivers up to four consecutive kicks dealing Dendro damage, while her Charged Attack executes a spinning kick after rapid snake-like movement. Using her Elemental Skill, she dashes forward dealing AoE Dendro damage and enters the Shadow Dance state. Consuming Dew of Herbs during this state allows her to execute special stamina-free Charged Attacks known as Illusion Play, which deal continuous AoE damage classified as Lunar Bloom damage. She also converts Dendro Cores into Cores of Falsehood, absorbing them to bolster her Charged Attacks and Elemental Burst. Her Elemental Burst delivers forward AoE Dendro damage.

Background

Raised in the Sumeru desert, Nefer suffered painful personal losses during a period of fierce persecution and turmoil. She turned to her sharp intellect to exact retribution before leaving her homeland for Nod-Krai. Following her revenge, she explored an ancient ruin where she met a stray cat possessed by the King of Ibis, from whom she acquired unique abilities and knowledge. Keeping the feline as her companion Ashru, she founded the Curatorium of Secrets in Nasha Town, establishing herself as an influential figure respected and feared throughout the region.

Relationships

Nefer places high demands on her sole employee, Yafoda, while secretly looking out for her. She employs her pet cat, Ashru, to deliver written correspondence. She stays in contact with Candace of Aaru Village via frequent letters. While she appreciates Rauma's pure heart, she keeps a measured distance to avoid being pulled into complex entanglements. In dealings with the merchant Dori, Nefer regularly outmaneuvers her in mental games, and she smoothly parried inquiries from Yelan during a meeting regarding her activities tied to Liyue.

Trivia

Her name originates from the Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic word "nfr", signifying absolute completion, beauty, and pleasantness. Her specialty culinary dish is "Secret Bargain", inspired by pani puri.
