Overview

Andrius, also known as Boreas, is a legendary spirit in Genshin Impact who serves as the Wolf of the North, one of the Four Winds of Mondstadt. Once an ancient god of frost who vied for dominance during the era of Old Mondstadt, he surrendered his physical form and now remains in Wolvendom as a powerful spirit of wind and ice. Serving as the Dominator of Wolves, he continues to protect his pack and the surrounding region.

Appearance

Manifested through the elements of wind and frost, Andrius takes the form of a massive wolf adorned with white and blue fur. He possesses glowing blue eyes, distinctive animal ears, wing-like projections on his back, and a lion-like tail.

Personality

Though naturally distant and distrustful toward adult humans—believing they often bring disappointment—Andrius displays profound tenderness toward innocent abandoned children and wanderers, adopting them into his wolf pack as "Lupical." Beneath his stern demeanor lies a highly noble, self-reflective nature, as demonstrated by his historical decision to forgo godhood out of concern that his harsh blizzards could not nurture human happiness.

Abilities

Andrius commands the elements of Cryo and Anemo and possesses complete immunity to damage from both elements. In battle, his initial phase consists of Cryo-infused claw swipes, tail sweeps, leaps, and high-speed charges around the arena. Upon reaching half health, he accesses a second phase, summoning falling hail, launching Anemo shockwaves and tail whips, deploying a battle-wide wind domain, and summoning phantom wolves when heavily damaged.

Background

Originally a nameless wolf who gained wisdom and the name "Boreas" in ancient times, he grew into a powerful god of frost. During the Archon War, he warred against the God of Storms, Decarabian. Following the tyrant's fall, Andrius voluntarily ended his physical existence, believing his harsh cold could not nurture humanity. After traveling alongside a legendary knight, he settled in Wolvendom, where he adopted the wild boy Razor and continues to defend his domain against threats such as the Abyss Order.

Relationships

Andrius acts as a familiar to Barbatos (Venti) within the Four Winds of Mondstadt. He maintains a deeply protective paternal relationship with Razor, whom he raised as part of his wolf family. Historically, he formed a close bond of companionship with the Knight of Boreas during their shared travels across the land.

Trivia

The name Andrius is derived from classical demonology, while Boreas is named after the Greek god of the north wind. Unlike most other weekly bosses fought through memories or illusions, Andrius manifests directly in the world to accept challenges. He has also appeared as a boss enemy in a crossover event with Honkai Impact 3rd.
