Nahida

Overview

Nahida is a character from the open-world RPG Genshin Impact, serving as the current Dendro Archon and God of Wisdom governing the region of Sumeru. Also known by her demon name Buer and the title Lesser Lord Kusanali, she was long confined within the Sanctuary of Surasthana by the Akademiya sages. Despite being treated as an inexperienced deity, she remains dedicated and responsible, striving to guide her people.

Appearance

Nahida has a petite, child-like stature with pointy ears and green eyes featuring cross-shaped pupils. Her hair is white with green-gradient tips, styled with asymmetric sidelocks, long bangs between her eyes, and a side ponytail adorned with a leaf hair ornament. Her attire includes a white sleeveless dress with gold trim, detached green short sleeves, a green cape, white bloomers, wrist bracelets, and toeless stirrup boots.

Personality

Nahida is exceptionally wise, calm, and deeply responsible, caring earnestly for her duties despite her youthful appearance. Solitary confinement made her familiar with loneliness, yet she approaches humanity and animals with warmth, gentle kindness, and patience. She has a fond habit of using elaborate analogies to explain complex ideas, loves sweet foods, and maintains an unyielding desire to learn for her people's sake.

Abilities

Wielding a catalyst in battle, Nahida deals Dendro damage with attacks that resemble light-up keypads and spatial cutouts. Her Elemental Skill, All Schemes to Know, allows her to lock onto targets via a viewfinder frame, marking them with the Seed of Skandha to trigger coordinated Dendro follow-up strikes upon elemental reactions. She can also harvest static plants from afar and read the minds of Sumeru's inhabitants. Her Elemental Explosion unleashes a massive domain, Illusory Heart, which boosts her skill based on party elements and grants Elemental Mastery bonuses. Additionally, she possesses powers over dreams and mind possession.

Background

Born 500 years ago from the purest branch of the Irminsul following the demise of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata, Nahida was brought to Sumeru by sages. Deemed young and lacking divine power, she was imprisoned in the Sanctuary of Surasthana while the Akademiya took over rule. For centuries, she could only interact with the world through dreams and the Akasha system. After contacting the Traveler and resolving a major crisis involving the sages' plots, she was rescued and finally stepped forward to directly govern Sumeru.

Relationships

She shares a deep, fundamental connection with her predecessor, Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. She relies heavily on the Traveler and Paimon, viewing them as key allies after they helped shatter the samsara loop and rescue her. Following the defeat of the Fatui Harbinger Scaramouche, she took him in and allowed him to operate under supervision as the Wanderer. She is also reverently supported by faithful followers such as Dunyarzad and Nilou.

Trivia

Her design and visual cues share noticeable similarities with Theresa Apocalypse from the Honkai series. Her signature specialty dish is Halvamazd.
