Sethos

Overview

Sethos is a playable character from the open-world action role-playing game Genshin Impact. Originating from the expansive desert region of Sumeru, he wields an Electro Vision and uses a bow as his primary weapon. He serves as the leader and heir of the ancient Temple of Silence, a secretive organization dedicated to preserving the forgotten knowledge of King Deshret's era. Recognized across both the desert and the rainforest as a warm and talkative wanderer, he frequently assists lost travelers using his flawless sense of direction.

Appearance

Sethos is a young dark-skinned male with striking green eyes and dark brown hair featuring a white streak at the ends, styled into braids. He dresses in functional desert attire colored mainly in shades of green. His outfit includes a small cape, short boots, and decorative jewelry such as traditional earrings and tassels.

Personality

Sethos is exceptionally outgoing, talkative, and friendly, treating strangers with immediate warmth. He takes genuine pleasure in meeting people, helping stranded travelers, and listening to anecdotes from scholars and Eremites alike. Beneath his relaxed and accessible demeanor, however, lies a sharp and calculating mind. He effortlessly reads social dynamics, using his charisma to build rapport while maintaining a careful distance, balancing profound ancestral wisdom with practical everyday sense.

Abilities

In combat, Sethos leverages his Electro Vision and bow, utilizing his Elemental Energy and Elemental Mastery to enhance his attacks. His Charged Attack can be charged to a second level to fire a line-penetrating Shadow-Piercing Shot, with its charge time significantly reduced by consuming stored Elemental Energy. His Elemental Skill, Ancient Rite: Sandstorm Chaser, deals AoE Electro DMG while retreating and refunds energy upon triggering Electro reactions. His Elemental Burst, Secret Rite: Twilight's Shadowpiercer, transforms his normal attacks into penetrating Duskbolt Arrows scaled off his Elemental Mastery.

Background

Sethos grew up under the care of Bamoun, the leader of the Temple of Silence who raised him as his own grandson. Sethos became a vessel for a portion of the ancient god Hermanubis's power, shared with Cyno. After Cyrus took Cyno away, Sethos remained with the order to learn its ancient secrets. Years later, he arranged a meeting with Cyno and challenged him to the Rite of Duel. After ceding his fragment to Cyno upon losing, Sethos inherited the leadership of the Temple of Silence following Bamoun's passing, helping bridge the gap between his secretive organization and the Sumeru Akademiya.

Relationships

Sethos harbored profound devotion toward his adoptive grandfather Bamoun. He shares a deep connection with Cyno, bonded by their shared past as vessels of Hermanubis and their duel; he is notably one of the very few individuals who unironically finds Cyno's dry humor entertaining. He maintains ties with the scholar Cyrus and guides the Traveler when needed. Furthermore, Sethos possesses great social skill, even successfully coaxing the distant Wanderer into attending an Akademiya social function.

Trivia

Sethos takes his name from historical Egyptian pharaoh titles. His constellation name, Basileos Delta, incorporates the ancient Greek term basileus, meaning king or monarch. Although he is categorized as a bow wielder in gameplay, he was depicted fighting with a polearm during an animated cutscene duel against Cyno. His signature dish is the Super-Magnificent Shawarma Wrap, reflecting his love for spiced meats, though he personally dislikes eating raw green vegetables.
