Overview

Yun Jin is a four-star Geo polearm character in Genshin Impact, hailing from Liyue. She serves as the current director and star performer of the famous Yun-Han Opera Troupe in Liyue Harbor. Beyond her renowned talents as a sweet-voiced singer and versatile actress capable of delivering captivating performances, she is also a skilled playwright who composes new theatrical works for her troupe. As a dedicated artist, she balances traditional theatrical elegance with a dynamic leadership role within Liyue's cultural landscape.

Appearance

Yun Jin has long black hair styled with blunt bangs, distinctive red eyes, and delicate eye makeup. Her attire blends traditional Chinese opera elements with Chinese Lolita fashion. She wears an elaborate dark purple bonnet hat decorated with pink, light blue, and white pom-poms alongside long turquoise tassels. Her outfit features a long-sleeved purple dress with a white underskirt, a small capelet, decorative flags attached to her back, black tights, and long boots.

Personality

On stage and in public, Yun Jin maintains a refined, elegant, and dignified demeanor, seamlessly transitioning between roles of delicate ladies and valiant female warriors. While deeply respectful of traditional arts, she possesses a flexible mindset and is willing to innovate rather than be rigidly bound by old conventions. Privately, she harbors a secret passion for rock music and secretly attends live performances, careful to keep this hobby hidden from elders who might scold her. To preserve her physique and vocal performance, she adheres to a strict, light diet, though she privately craves rich, hearty meat dishes.

Abilities

Yun Jin wields a polearm to perform up to five continuous spear strikes. Her Elemental Skill allows her to strike enemies with Geo damage, or hold to form a shield scaled off her maximum HP while charging a powerful counterattack whose damage scales with her Defense. Timing her Skill precisely at the moment of an enemy attack releases a maximum-charge counter instantly. Her Elemental Burst deals area-of-effect Geo damage and grants party members a buff that increases their Normal Attack damage based on her current Defense. Additionally, she has a chance to double stamina-related adventure dishes when cooking.

Background

Yun Jin was raised in a theatrical family and inherited leadership of the Yun-Han Opera Troupe from her father, becoming both its director and star performer. During the rebuilding of the Jade Chamber, she entered Ningguang's resource competition alongside Beidou, the Traveler, and Shenhe to secure a stage for her opera troupe. While searching for materials, she discovered that the legendary hero from her father's famous play, "The Divine Damsel of Devastation," was based on Shenhe's actual tragic past. After the Jade Chamber was restored, Yun Jin performed the completed opera on its grand stage, amending the ending to celebrate Shenhe's new bonds and heroism.

Relationships

Yun Jin shares a deep mutual respect with the rock musician Xinyan, secretly attending her concerts and collaborating with her during festival rehearsals. She formed a warm friendship with Shenhe after learning her life story during the Jade Chamber reconstruction and updating "The Divine Damsel of Devastation" in her honor. She also partnered with Beidou during Ningguang's building competition. Ningguang acts as a prominent patron of the Yun-Han Opera Troupe, investing in their performances to preserve Liyue's rich cultural heritage while offering guidance to Yun Jin.

Trivia

Yun Jin is the second character from Liyue after Hu Tao to be identified by a full two-character Chinese surname and given name structure. Across all language options in the game, her operatic singing and recitations are uniquely performed by Yang Yang, a professional Peking opera artist from the Shanghai Peking Opera Troupe, giving her five credited voice performers in total. Her combat animations incorporate authentic Chinese opera spear-spinning tricks and martial arts stances. Additionally, an early promotional trailer featured a color error where her Geo Vision was accidentally depicted as Anemo teal.
