Overview
La Signora, whose true identity is Rosalyne-Kruzchka Lohefalter, is a major antagonist in the action role-playing game Genshin Impact. She serves as the Eighth of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, operating under the formal codename "The Fair Lady." Bound by sworn loyalty to the Tsaritsa of Snezhnaya, she acts as a ruthless diplomat across the continent of Teyvat. Her primary mission involves securing the divine Gnoses from the Archons of various nations through coercive tactics, political scheming, and absolute force, positioning her as a formidable enemy to the protagonist.
Appearance
Signora is a tall, elegant woman with long platinum-blonde hair, purple eyes, and an asymmetrical hairstyle. She wears a distinctive black mask that conceals her right eye, alongside intricate earrings and body jewelry. Her attire consists of an off-the-shoulder dress complemented by long gloves and fur trimming. When revealing her true form as the Crimson Witch of Embers, her outfit transforms into a fiery aesthetic reminiscent of a blazing red moth, accompanied by molten flame elements.
Personality
Signora possesses an exceptionally arrogant, haughty, and ruthless temperament. She routinely demonstrates disdain toward both ordinary mortals and divine beings, relying on cold calculation, high-handed behavior, and political coercion to achieve her goals. Despite her merciless demeanor, her cruelty stems from deep-seated grief and intense vengeance over her lost past. Interestingly, she exhibits a more composed and polite side when interacting with select Fatui colleagues and children from the House of the Hearth, revealing a complex personality beneath her tyrannical front.
Abilities
In her base state, Signora utilizes a Cryo Delusion to manipulate ice, casting ice projectiles, giant spears, tracking blasts, and sword rains, while encasing herself in a protective ice cocoon that intensifies ambient freezing cold. Upon releasing her Delusion, she unleashes the liquid fire within her body to become the Crimson Witch of Embers. In this form, she commands high Pyro resistance, wielding a blazing whip, summoning fiery meteors and lotus moths, and transforming into a massive fire tornado that coats the battlefield in scorched terrain.
Background
Originally a maiden from Mondstadt who loved to sing, Rosalyne was in love with Rostam, a knight of the Knights of Favonius, before she departed to study Pyro arts at the Sumeru Akademiya. When Rostam died fighting monsters during the Cataclysm, her overwhelming grief transformed her into the "Crimson Witch of Flames," wielding liquid fire to purge evil across Teyvat. To prevent her self-destruction, Pierro recruited her into the Fatui, where the Tsaritsa bestowed a Cryo Delusion upon her to suppress her flames. Adopting the identity of "La Signora," she successfully obtained the Gnoses of Mondstadt and Liyue. However, during her machinations in Inazuma, she accepted a throne-side duel against the Traveler, suffered defeat, and was executed by the Raiden Shogun's Musou no Hitotachi.
Relationships
Signora's tragic trajectory was set in motion by the death of her lover, the Mondstadt knight Rostam. She held deep loyalty toward the Tsaritsa and Pierro, who preserved her life with a Cryo Delusion. Conversely, she viewed the Archons—including Venti, Zhongli, and the Raiden Shogun—with immense disdain, forcibly seizing their Gnoses or plotting against their realms. Among her fellow Fatui Harbingers, she maintained a tense, mocking relationship with Scaramouche and Childe, yet engaged in surprisingly pleasant social interactions with members like Sandrone, Columbina, and Arlecchino.
Trivia
Her title, "La Signora," derives from the traditional stock character in Italian Commedia dell'arte. Details regarding her tragic past as Rosalyne and her evolution into the Crimson Witch are chronicled within the lore of the "Crimson Witch of Flames" and "Pale Flame" artifact sets, as well as the bow "Elegy for the End." Additionally, her boss defeat item, the "Hellfire Butterfly," bears the imagery of the fiery butterfly associated with her burning legacy.
