Unlike many of his scheming peers, he is distinguished by his strict martial honor and integrity, earning profound respect from both his subordinates and foreign rivals.
Appearance
Capitano is a towering, heavily built man who wears a black helmet integrated with a face-concealing mask, through which glowing dark blue eyes and long black hair are visible. His attire consists of a dark bodysuit accented with golden chains and an aiguillette, layered beneath a heavy Snezhnayan winter coat featuring fur trim. He wears black gloves and clawed gauntlets. Due to an immortality curse, his physical body and face are severely decayed, which he keeps hidden beneath his headgear.
Personality
Capitano is an exceptionally honorable warrior who abhors underhanded tactics, insisting on face-to-face combat and fair engagements. He exhibits extraordinary care and respect for his soldiers and comrades, earning overwhelming loyalty from the Fatui rank-and-file. Guided by an unyielding sense of justice, he consistently prioritizes the preservation of life and the peace of fallen souls over his own well-being. He possesses a resolute spirit, refusing to submit to cruel fates or curses and confronting divine authority with quiet dignity.
Abilities
Wielding a sword and the Ice element, Capitano possesses martial power on par with the gods, holding the top rank among the Fatui Harbingers. He can traverse battlefields at extreme speeds and release massive attacks capable of wiping out armies from long range without harming nearby allies. His unique modified heart can absorb and store countlessly many souls and memories. Additionally, he is capable of utilizing the mystical arts of the Masters of the Night-Wind, having learned them during his past stay in Natlan.
Background
Formerly a knight of Khaenri'ah, he fought during the Cataclysm before receiving a curse of immortality from Ronova, the Shade of Death. Leading the survivors to Natlan, he helped fight the Abyss and came to view the region as his second home. To save his fallen comrades whose souls could not return to the ley lines, he stored them within his own heart. Later joining the Fatui as its Chief Harbinger, he eventually returned to Natlan to address its fading ley lines. In the end, he sacrificed his own existence to unify with the Night Lord, stabilizing Natlan's rules and finding final repose.
Relationships
He serves the Tsaritsa, who holds his strength and nobility in high regard. Fellow Harbingers such as Tartaglia, Scaramouche, and Sandrone speak of him with immense respect. He shares a profound mutual recognition with the Pyro Archon Mavuika, engaging her in single combat before aligning with her to protect Natlan. He formed a strong bond of trust with Ororon during his mission. Historically, he received guidance from Aizu, the past leader of the Masters of the Night-Wind, and previously crossed paths with Dainsleif and the Traveler's sibling.
Trivia
His Fatui codename is derived from a stock character in the Italian Commedia dell'arte, though his noble and genuinely formidable personality subverts the traditional cowardly archetype. His true name, Thrain, originates from Old Norse terms associated with undead draugr figures. Due to carrying countless agonizing souls within his modified heart, he spent over five hundred years unable to sleep.
