Charlotte

Overview

Charlotte is a playable character from the open-world RPG Genshin Impact. Hailing from the nation of Fontaine, she works as an energetic young reporter for the famous local newspaper, The Steambird. She wields a Cryo Vision alongside a catalyst in combat and possesses the Pneuma Arkhe alignment. Driven by an intense passion for journalistic truth, she travels both within and outside Fontaine to cover various events, local rumors, and major news stories.

Appearance

Charlotte features short pink hair with side-swept bangs, asymmetrical sideburns, and green eyes, complemented by a monocle. Her attire consists of a red newsboy-style cap, a shirt-like dress with detached red sleeves and white gloves, suspenders, a brooch, a leg band around her thigh, and short boots.

Personality

Charlotte is exceptionally cheerful, highly energetic, and naturally talkative. She strictly operates under the belief that being closer to the action produces the truest reporting, leading her to fearlessly dive into dangerous situations and criminal investigations. Despite her relentless pursuit of scoops, she maintains strong professional integrity, strictly avoiding biased reporting or exaggeration, and knows when to respectfully back down.

Abilities

Charlotte utilizes her custom camera, Monsieur Verite, as a catalyst to channel Cryo energy. Her normal attacks deliver Cryo hits, while her charged attack summons a Pneuma-aligned strike. Her Elemental Skill locks onto enemies via a viewfinder to deal Cryo damage and apply a status effect. Her Elemental Burst establishes a field that inflicts continuous Cryo area-of-effect damage while simultaneously healing the entire party. Additionally, her unique exploration talent enables players to take photographs during combat and inside domains when paired with a specialized zoom lens item.

Background

Inspired by her reporter father, Galanopoulos, who gifted her a custom camera for her tenth birthday, Charlotte pursued a career in journalism. Her fearless reporting frequently draws the ire of dangerous individuals, forcing her editor-in-chief, Euphrasie, to routinely send her on out-of-nation assignments for her own safety. During an assignment covering the King of Invokations Grand Prix TCG tournament, she traveled through Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru, establishing a close bond with the Traveler.

Relationships

Euphrasie, her editor-in-chief, frequently scolds and protects Charlotte due to her reckless reporting habits. Her father, Galanopoulos, served as her mentor in journalism and provided her original camera, while the designer Chiori helped customize its casing. She shares a surprisingly synchronized banter with Cyno over pun-filled article titles. Charlotte maintains a close professional and friendly relationship with the Traveler and Paimon, frequently relying on them during her investigations across Teyvat.

Trivia

The name of her signature camera, Monsieur Verite, is derived from the French word for truth. She loves sweet desserts but has a very low tolerance for spicy food, which easily upsets her stomach. Although she originally hoped to receive an Anemo Vision, she is fully satisfied with her Cryo Vision because it allows her to cool down her camera equipment to prevent overheating.
