Collei

Overview

Collei is a playable character in Genshin Impact who works as a Trainee Forest Ranger in the Avidya Forest under the guidance of Tighnari. Originating from Sumeru, she wields a Bow and utilizes a Dendro Vision. Having overcome a painful past involving severe hardship, she now earns the trust and affection of local residents through her earnest, hardworking, and helpful dedication to protecting the forest.

Appearance

Collei is a young girl with medium-length green hair, crossed bangs, and purple eyes. Her hair is decorated with an ornament and a black ribbon, and she wears a single earring. Her outfit includes a backless dress paired with a green capelet over her shoulders, detached long sleeves with middle-finger loops, and asymmetrical socks and footwear featuring a thigh ring. She carries her Dendro Vision mounted with a decorative clip at her left hip, and at times has bandages wrapped around her body.

Personality

On the surface, Collei is polite, earnest, and eager to help others, but internally she struggles with deep introversion and social anxiety. Owing to her traumatic past, she carries underlying emotional scars and can become wary or defensive when overwhelmed. Driven by a desire to overcome her former weak self, she pushes herself to work hard and study constantly. She is easily flustered by intense attention from others and tends to retreat into tree hollows when she needs solitude. Having experienced severe hardship, she eats almost anything without complaint.

Abilities

Collei excels at ranged Dendro combat and lingering field support. Her Elemental Skill allows her to throw a Leaf Boomerang that deals Dendro damage to enemies along its path both going and returning; upon unlocking passive talents, triggering Dendro-related reactions while the boomerang is in flight creates a Sprout effect that deals continuous Dendro damage around the active character. Her Elemental Burst throws a plush doll named Cuilein-Anbar, which explodes to create a specialized zone dealing periodic Dendro Area of Effect damage. Additionally, she grants a passive team buff that reduces stamina consumption during gliding.

Background

In her childhood, Collei contracted the terminal illness Eleazar and was handed over to the Fatui under the guise of receiving treatment, becoming a subject of human experimentation where Archon residue was injected into her. After escaping, she wandered through various lands burdened by dark forces until she reached Mondstadt. There, she formed a life-changing bond with Amber and the Knights of Favonius. After Cyno sealed the hazardous dark power within her, she returned to Sumeru to train as a forest ranger under Tighnari. Her long-standing affliction of Eleazar was ultimately fully cured when the illness affecting Irminsul was resolved.

Relationships

Amber is Collei's savior and ultimate role model, whose warmth completely changed her life path. Tighnari serves as her caring master and mentor in the Avidya Forest. Cyno is a respected benefactor who previously sealed the volatile Archon residue within her. She shares a deep, heartwarming friendship with Sucrose, bonding over their mutual social anxiety during the Windblume Festival. She also respects Faruzan, though she is often overwhelmed by the elder scholar's intense doting.

Trivia

In early localized releases of the official prequel manga, her name was mistranslated into Japanese as 'Kona' before being corrected to 'Collei'. Her deep admiration for Amber is reflected throughout her character: she names her explosive mechanical doll 'Cuilein-Anbar', mimics Amber's reporting phrases, and consciously copies Amber's style by wearing her Vision mounted on her left hip with a decorative ribbon accessory.
