Noelle

Overview

Noelle is a Geo character wielding a claymore in Genshin Impact, originating from the region of Mondstadt. Working as a maid for the Knights of Favonius while training to become a full-fledged knight, she strives every day to learn knightly conduct and manners. Renowned throughout the city for taking on any task and resolving troubles with absolute efficiency, she is widely relied upon by the knights and citizens alike as an all-round, dependable helper.

Appearance

Noelle has short grey hair styled with a crown braid, complemented by green eyes and asymmetric sideburns. She wears a white hat adorned with red flowers. Her outfit combines a black and red maid dress with knightly armor, featuring a white apron, a red ascot, shoulder armor, gauntlets, and white armored thigh-high boots over black pantyhose.

Personality

Polite, earnest, and deeply caring, Noelle is defined by her absolute selflessness and devotion to assisting others. She speaks deferentially to everyone, using respectful terms of address. However, her impulse to help often drives her to push past her physical limits without regard for her own well-being. Although exceptionally capable and meticulous in her duties, she tends to underappreciate her own worth, inadvertently overworking herself in a relentless effort to prove she is ready for knighthood.

Abilities

Noelle wields a claymore to deliver broad melee attacks and spinning heavy strikes. Her Elemental Skill, Breastplate, summons a Geo shield scaled off her Defense that absorbs physical and elemental damage while granting her normal and charged attacks a chance to heal the entire party. With her Elemental Burst, Sweeping Time, she strikes surrounding foes with Geo energy, converting her Defense into extra Attack, extending her strike range, and infusing her weapon with un-overridable Geo damage.

Background

Dreaming of joining the Knights of Favonius, Noelle works diligently as a maid at their headquarters while taking notes on knightly behavior. Possessing astounding strength, she once accidentally damaged a cathedral bell during sword practice, leading her to commission a custom heavy blade. Because her self-sacrificing nature worries senior knights like Jean and Kaeya, they frequently assign her routine errands around the city to keep her from recklessly throwing herself into extreme danger.

Relationships

Acting Grand Master Jean and Kaeya look out for Noelle, frequently giving her internal tasks to prevent her from exhausting herself. She shares a relaxed, close friendship with Barbara, whom she affectionately calls by name during tea breaks, and maintains friendly ties with Amber, Bennett, and Fischl. She respects the Traveler immensely, addressing them as Honorary Knight or senior mentor while offering her full support.

Trivia

Her name Noelle derives from the French feminine form of Noël. Her Constellation titles, Hangout Event dialogue, and skill motifs feature subtle references to various pop-culture anime and mecha tropes. Due to her impressive defensive durability, shielding, and powerful broad-range Elemental Burst, fans fondly nickname her after heavy armored combat units like Gundam.
